Heard from my source that he's signed this afternoon.

Still hoping we can keep Pearson. Not looking likely at all though.

Gowling would be a pretty good replacement for Shaun - he was excellent against Eastleigh.

More pace, more experienced and better on the ball. But I think Pearson is a better DEFENDER

No idea he was at Blundell Park to be honest. My source just text me to say that they had signed.

The tweet never said anything about not signing for us

I'm sure official gtfc wouldn't put a picture up with gowling and mackreth saying 'the two J's brightening up our day' if he hadn't signed

At least 3 of last season's squad have been offered 2-year deals this time.

Makes you wonder though why Pearson/LJL etc wasn't offered a two year deal after Gateshead?

The GT sub-editors really lay it on thick, don't they? "Sensational double signing"!! Talk about getting carried away. ::)

Still, very pleased to see Gowling sign. He is good at this level and his experience could be crucial even if he doesn't play every game. Apart from that, he might pop in the odd goal as well.

Mackreth? No surprise. He's Hurst's kind of player.

I could be wrong but I think the contracts that Pearson and LJL were under last season were extensions from the season before.

Because they played more than X amount of games in 2013/14 it triggered an option in their contract that meant they were offered one year extensions i.e. for 2014/15.

Of course there was nothing stopping the club re-negotiating the terms of their contracts last summer, but let's not forget at this point last year we weren't all in love with the players as much as we are now.

JOSH Gowling and Jack Mackreth have become Paul Hurst's third and fourth summer signings.

Gowling, who has penned a two year deal with the club, arrived at Blundell Park on loan from Kidderminster Harriers in April and made his Town debut at Alfreton Town soon after.

While Mackreth has penned a new one-year deal with the Mariners. Jack had joined the Mariners last summer and made his debut against Bristol Rovers in August. He scored his first for the club to earn a point away to Telford in November. He added to that with the winner against his former club Macclesfield on Boxing Day and also netted the decisive goal in a 3-1 victory over Barnet.

The duo become Paul Hurst's third and fourth summer signings.

We will be announcing another signing soon

Very pleased he's signed. Obviously we know he's good from his games for us but always thought he was a standout player for Kidderminster when they were good. Obviously he was shite the occasions I saw him play for Lincoln.
