Please no. Why cant we have a high standard referee who is used to refereeing in big games with crowds bigger than 40k. Instead of a referee who loses his head in a crowd bigger than 4k.

I wonder if he will be travelling up on Bristols team bus like he did with the Heed.

Halifax at home this season when we won 1-0. To be fair to him, he wasn't too bad that night.

Looking at his record it seems that he has only reffed 6 games this year.

No I don't think he figures in the memory of that game. What's the problem with him then?

I hope his previous incompetence as a "referee" has all been a blip and he is not noticeable in the final

He had a decent game last time out IIRC.

I always get the impression he tries too hard not to be influenced by the home crowd and ends up being slightly biased against them. Could work in our favour if Bristol take the 9 million fans they think they're taking.

Don't let us get worried about the ref. just get behind the team . I really think we can do this

Yes, but it's been rescinded.

He was awful in one Town game. Truly awful. Then, the next time he reffed us, he wasn't. Not at all.
Not worth worrying about, Town can win this.

Inconsistent but what's new in this league?

we can't think about the referee. No excuses, we've got to go out there and bloody win it. We can do it

So the Trophy final had Michael Oliver of the PL and we get Joyce.

The one thing that I notice about the refs, is that they can be dire in a normal league game, but when they ref a televised game they seem to improve immensely. Possibly due to the number of cameras and the scrutiny they are under.

Getting far too hung up about the referee.  If we play our best, we have a great chance.

We as fans are maybe getting a bit too concerned about it

I bet though that it's not even on Hurst's and the players' agenda or if it is mentioned they will be playing it right down

We just have to prepare correctly and play to the rules then it's in our hands and the ref should have no real bearing on the outcome

I'd have thought that is because the Trophy is an FA appointment and this is a Conference one.

It was mentioned to me on Sunday that he was sat in the press box in the main stand. This would explain that

If we turn up with our A game whatever the opposition and ref throw at us we will go through

Ross Joyce finished top of the Referee list at this level and will be promoted to Football League next season. The last 2 appearances at BP he has performed extremely well and I think he actually received some positive comments. I really hope he brings those performances with him one last time and then we get him as our Referee every couple of weeks next season. 8)
