I see Scunny's new ground has been granted planning permission with a start date of July and completion within 12 months.

I wonder if the forthcoming councillor elections will improve or lessen our chances of positive support

I imagine that's what can happen when you have a Chairman that plays well with others!

So on new grounds, they will be 2-0 ahead.

Remember sitting there, lovely sunny day, flying high just one division below the top league in England and the thought of playing football in a shiny new ground, bright red Conoco caps on our heads, not a care in the world.....

In a parallel universe we are playing there and mid table in the premiership!

In my lifetime we will never equalise let alone pull one back.

If you think the New Ground is happening any time soon then you are very deluded

Hopefully we will be in the same league by the time it is open, so we can have 4,000 tickets or more to help them at least get a decent attendance in it.

So jealous they've got a supportive council, a good space to build it on and no NIMBYS to moan or crematoriums nearby! What is it about this town?!!! :-/

This shows that their council recognise that having a new stadium with good facilities means that it reflects their vision for Scunthorpe.  Baths Hall is another example however, the final end product for that venture ran short of money so it isn't as good as it could have been, but still the venture and application was carried out with best intentions. The facts are that they will have had two stadiums in the time we have been trying to get one.

It was the councils request that we look away from BP decades ago and they have done nothing to aid that.  They built Bradley Pitches complex and that could easily have been Towns new ground, obviously a larger development.  They gave the Boots development of top town the go a head knowing damn well that it would effect Towns proposal that had planning permission well before Boots development put forward their application.

The amount of money generated in this area and the amount of money wasted must make our council one of the most inept in the country.  Do councils get audited? if not why not, ours is well over due.

At the end of the day you elect them (or not if you don't vote).

Ever heard of the Valley Party?

I've voted for different people when I haven't been happy with the ones in the ward seat.  Also I have lived over seas and various parts of UK.

Never heard of the Valley Party.
