I've been to many away games supporting Town, and with much larger followings than we are taking to Alfreton. However, I must say this game has the potential to be one of the best and most memorable ever. Having more than three quarters of the crowd in a small ground, with so much riding on the match, should make for an electric atmosphere. It could be a game we reminisce about for years to come. Here's hoping.....!

Notts County was pretty impressive a few years back, around 2000 there if memory serves me right.

Especially if we go top - that's if we haven't already on Saturday. Don't want to be too cocky but I have a feeling we're going to win it (the league that is) with a bit to spare.

Anfield for me is the best, but i used to love going to Peterborough away.. Darlington away the season we needed to win the game was good, only a couple hundred town fans there i think but we sang all game

That Burnley night takes some beating and the fact everybody there really cared. Liverpool was amazing but at games like that there are plenty of daytrippers which is great but not necessarily condusive to a really intense atmosphere. Notts Co is a good shout and  the Mansfield game with the late Danny North winner was ace as well.

Yeah, that was very special. Especially when dusky headed us in front, 7000 Town in a 12000 crowd and all those Harry Haddocks!

Yeah that Mansfield game was a good one, I drove to that one with a mate of mine, Danny North scored a good goal, Liverpool is my favourite though, it was amazing to witness that Jevons goal.

Was at all of the above except  Anfield ( family wedding in Florida ) ,For me ending the Geordies record breaking run at St James's was pretty special as well .
Hope Alfreton lives long in the memory ,for the right reasons

I've had some fantastic awaydays in my time following The Mariners. Everton in '84, Middlesborough Reading and Wimbledon in '89, Newcastle in '92, Anfield in '01 but one of my all-time favourites was at Plymouth on a Tuesday night in '92. We were both at the wrong end of the table and we won 2-1 with a rare goal from Mark Lever and (what I think) was Super Clive's first ever goal for us. It drunk it down with rain all game and the 100 or so of us on the away terrace were doing the conga for ages. At the end of the season we stayed up and they were relegated.

One of my favourites is still stockport away in the JPT semi final 2008. Won 2-1 in terrible conditions and a weather assisted goal. Boston away was good

Burnley was a fantastic night.....the only downside was that I along with many other town fans got a bloody parking ticket.
The police told us where to park, then came out from the game and parking tickets everywhere  :-/

Burnley away for me was the best. I was at Uni for the Liverpool game and listened  to it on a crap radio with three liverpool fans who were expecting to pound us. I've never let them forget it.

Since we've been in the conference Gateshead away this season has been the best purely for the result.

The only downside for me at the Burnley game was that I got arrested and had to go back to Burnley three times afterwards to go to court 😕
I have been at many of the games mentioned on here ,Wimbledon , Liverpool , Newcastle , Middlesboro ect but my favourite games was always the Derbys , HUll , Scunny and even Lincoln although I can hardly ever remember us winning in any of them

That's the one away game that I will always regret not being there. I was all set to go but came down with a serious bout of sickness earlier in the day.

However, the 2nd part of your post rings true as exactly the same thing happened to me on a previous visit to Turf Moor.

1978/79    Rochdale 2 v 5 Grimsby  ( Spotland )

Town went 2-0 down but came back to win 5-2 and were eventually promoted. A great turnaround in the scoreline and being a night match it had a lot of atmosphere for the size of the crowd. Not the most glamorous fixture in Towns history but just sticks in my mind.

Liverpool 79 (never seen so many away fans at a game), Wolves 79 (twice) .  Everton 84, Middlesboro 89 Reading 89 Wimbledon 89, Newcastle 92, Stoke 91 (put car in ditch still got there)   , Villa 91 and many more away days.

It'll take something special to beat the Liverpool game in 2001.

I really enjoyed winning 3-2 at Accrington. We were 2-0 down at half time and effectively relegated with about 5 games to go. I remember ringing my mate at half time while sat on those concrete steps behind the goal telling him how depressing it was, that we were losing at Accrington and going down without a fight.

Then we scored three quick second half goals and we win 3-2! Amazing turn-around for an away game. Just a pity that we got relegated anyway - but it sparked that mini run where we also beat Darlo and Barnet and took it to the last game.

Also enjoyed thumping Lincoln 4-1 on Boxing Day and winning 2-1 at Scunny last season. Great atmospheres for both games.

I missed that Liverpool away game in 79, i had my ticket already to go but I'd been naughty for my dad the previous night so he stop me going even though I had a ticket, I'll never ever forgive him for that. ;D

Liverpool in 2001 I think it would take a lot to top that. Although beating Lincoln 4-1 at their place the other year was pretty good ;)

Stoke away 0-0 amazing atmosphere

Everyone has different games for different reasons I guess.

1) Coventry away, FA Cup 1970-something.

Even though we lost in dramatic circumstances, the sight of their Spion Kop entirely Black & White with "Mariners" ringing out was just fantastic.  Must've been about 8,000 (?) Town there.

2) Drawing away at West Ham FA Cup 1990-something.  Freezing cold, midweek, thousands of Town fans, "Free Arthur Fowler" ringing out.

The pre season 4-1 win at Scunny in 2001. Also the Coventry match that had Starchan sacked

A random one, I enjoyed Rotherham in 2003 when Oster scored in injury time.

Mansfield 1980 when we clinched promotion with Town fans filling 3 sides of the ground.

Middlesbrough, Ayresome Park..Marc North.

Brilliant.

Coventry and anyone of the 3 games at Liverpool for me.

Wolves was also great in the League Cup.  We nearly won.

It will be good to say in the years to come,

I seem to remember it was in excess of 15000 that day. It took us 5 hours to get there, the A46 was rammed with Town fans

I remember that was the main game on Goals On Sunday and the commentator (Nick Powell I think) saying "Yorkies Yorkies what's the score, is the chant from the Grimsby fans who are thoroughly enjoying this"  :)

Wolves away was good, full attendance and little old grimsby snuck a 1-0 win through Andy Todd

Chasetown away was a great day out as was Coalville Town, loved going to little clubs like that, but for me my favorite away day was 4-4 draw at Chesterfield when Young dislocated his twice before being physically dragged off the third time, the atmosphere was fantastic in that game

Normally the clubs and fans are a lot more friendly,

Sheffield Utd away, it was a Tuesday night and the first game after Ivanos first loan spell.
Without him we feared the worst but the team put on a fantastic performance to win 2:1 (I think?) to go 2nd in the old first division (championship)
Not sure but I think Gary Child's got the winner?
What a night and great journey home!

Was that the one where all Town fans got moved to cover?  Remember that for a couple of reasons, one of which was I took a girl who called it the worst night of her life even though I had bought her a Bovril! (confused1)

I had my first honeymoon in Blackpool, the air was turned blue in Yates' wine lodge when she realised Town were away there.  :)

Man I fecking salute you ! 👏remember hitchin to Bolton early 70 s  left straight from winter gardens through the night , pre motorway travel . Two ov us prob 14/15 , got run all over Bolton . We lost I thimk but great day out .

Les, the police told the fans to park on this big main road, must have been 60/70odd cars parked down there and when we came out every car had a ticket.
I threw mine away and never heard owt....but I was in my dads car for that game as mine was getting repaired  :)

Chesterfield away a few seasons ago we won 0-1 and someone from our fans ran on the pitch to take a corner, cue police confusion and hilarious scenes (think it was a bus trip from a pub in Gy)
Chesterfield where all over us but we held on....
Then WBA away in that ace season after promotion in the late nineties to what is now championship
We played them off the park and the town fans where signing "there's only one Alan Buckley" he had been sacked by them, think final score was 1-1 or 1-0 to them
Think Lee Hughes played for them

Histon was strangely flat (atmosphere, not the terrain!) for me, despite us winning 6-1 or whatever.  Remember a good night at Cambridge in Scott n Hurst's first or second season when we played brilliantly and we sang through most of the game.

Barnet this season has got to be the best down here that I've been to. Worst was Wembley.

Derby away on Boxing Day was one that I remember but doesnt seem to have been mentioned, especially with Town fans on a high after beating Sheff Wed in the game before.

That was one of the most complete away performances I have ever seen from Town. The highlights didn't do our football justice.

At the end of the game loads of Blades fans stayed behind to applaud us off the pitch.

I think my first away game was when we drew 1-1 at Bury with a Clive Wiggington goal which clinched promotion in 1972. Great start!
