But we were judging him then against what we'd seen a few seasons earlier so against the likes of our home grown local lads like Ford, Emson etc he was pants
Maybe in his defence he was playing two leagues higher with us back in 87/88 than we've been for a fair few years so must have done something right to be a league rather than a non league footballer

My main memory of him was scoring twice in the first 5 minutes at Crewe. It was pissing down that night and we went in the main stand with their fans rather than stand on the open terrace. We ended up drawing 2 all.
