Surely Grimsby Town have a defibrillator?

I would say it's very important that all grounds should have one, that includes Grimsby Town, could save a life.

They are a great bit of kit and very easy to use. They simply save lives. It's good the club has them.

Think, by h&s regs, there has to be 1 per specific amount of employee's or space in the workplace.......back to you nick

I noticed that the small market town of Helmsley in North Yorks has one in the town centre.  It is locked up but presumably there are trained people working nearby besides the medics.

Helmsley has a lot of very old residents and visitors so probably a very good investment.

No legal requirement to have a defib at any location except maybe the back of an ambulance!

I assumed that was the case, we have over 50 staff at our office and it has never been mentioned.

Think it would be a good idea to maybe ask about one arry, with 50 odd people being there.

We've got about 150 where I work and being a first aider too we've just had two bought for our site and been fully trained with them, but the ones we've got talk you through everything so anyone could use them.

The First Aid Regulations require every workplace to undertake an assessment of their first aid provision and facilities to ensure they are suitable and sufficient, thats all.
If the assessment identifies that the risk of cardiac arrest is high then you would struggle to come up with a legal argument as to why you have not provided a defib, ie the initial cost of buying a single unit outweighs the probable loss of one life.  Risk of cardiac increases as workplace numbers increase, workplace demographics may indicate an increased threat ie elderly or frail persons, the workplace itself ie f running a gym you would be more likely to encounter persons placing the heart under increased strain... its all down to your risk assessment.

They are superb bits of kit, easy to use even by the untrained and the cost vs potential life argument doesnt really exist when you consider you will be paying less than £1000 for one.

Our office was offered a free health check for over 40s during work time but the manager declined, I mean she wouldn't want the staff to be away from their desks for 15 minutes. :B
