How Much would you need to spend to get promotion from this league? Crawley & Fleetwood did it? FGR haven't as yet, so how much do you think it costs to guerrantee it?

Not sure that "how much" covers it...although it helps of course, money is no guarantee of success. It's how you spend your budget and then how you manage your purchases

I seem to recall that in our first season at this level we threw quite a bit of money at it (admittedly probably not as much as Crawley did that season or Fleetwood after that) but we squandered it on poor signings (Connell apart perhaps) and basically that was probably our best chance gone before we realised it

It is not just how much,

Its getting the right players, paying large transfer fee's does not guarantee a good player,

Then when you have got the good players in,

You need the right manager to get the best out of them.

Agree on the manager part (this isn't a dig at hurst either). A lot of the managers I reckon have had above all great contacts in the game. Able to get loan signings from top clubs or had that location thing that makes the mover a whole lot easier

Would be much better for us if we knew more about Rovrum  rather than York. Don't we know someone with a foot in the door there ?. ;)

Fatty Evans sent us Nicky Walker who didn't even get a look in - don't suppose he'll be too keen to send us any more.

Its not so much how much as it is simply how?

A quick look back through the archives of the last 7-8 seasons shows that the team that gets the automatic promotion slot is quite simply the team that scores the most goals, having the best defence matters for little if you do not score more than the rest of the teams, i think there is one season where this is an exception and then by only a couple of goals.
Sounds simple really, scoring an average of between 2 and 2.25 goals per game will pretty much guarantee the title on previous records.....this is where we..under Hurst at least, are pretty certain not to be picking up the title any season soon. We have managed an average of 1.5 goals per game over the last 3 regular full seasons, slightly decreasing in each of the 3 seasons, thus far this season we are averaging........yes you have guessed.... a fraction over 1.5 goals per game.

Scoring goals is an absolute necessity to winning a game of football, to accruing the maximum possible points,  on the other hand while preventing the other team scoring increases your chances of winning a game it will never accrue maximum points.

Therefore it would appear tactically sound to adopt a slightly attack weighted approach.

Ah Moosey, but how much do those goals cost? Good point though.

On a different note, would you rather have PH or Fatty Evans spending their way out of this division?

The sad fact is that I'd have a manager who knows how to be successful at this level, if that means Fatty then he would do for me.

How much did Akinde cost Barnet?

Ignoring costs.....the question is......would the current squad be capable of scoring more goals without such a cautious manager?

The numbers are there for studying, we are standing still in relation to scoring goals and stuck in this league as a result.
