Interesting one, that. There aren't many (relatively) well-paid careers where you get so much time to yourself when not working so if he was looking to get some qualifications, train for another career, he could easily have done that whilst still playing football. Wonder what he'll end up doing?

A great rarity. A footballer with intelligence.

Yeah he reads books and everything!

And he writes as well!

Might put a crafty fiver on him winning the Booker Prize during the next 20 years...

...and another fiver on him winning the Pulitzer Prize if he becomes a journalist!  :)

Not sure his decision reflects anything like intelligence. He would have been on decent money for basically a part-time job at FGR, as Maringer said, with plenty of scope for study. He'll probably end up at another Conference club in a couple of months. Unless he does a Toto and goes travelling, in which case he'll end up at another Conference club in a year or so.

Probably thinks he's at the peak of his game. Was at Watford, now out of favour at FGR. The prospects aren't good for footballers who retire at this level to stay in the game,

Very religious chap and wants to do charity work apparently.

Good for him, then. As long as it is proper charity and not just missionary work.

Big decision for the lad , realised he wouldn't make it big time .  Must have been given good advise , if his heart wasn't into it now is the time to prepare his next part of life . Good luck to him .

Follow your dream and don't be afraid to change career. Good advice. Good luck to him.
