An article from 2009 but still an interesting read.

I did hear of a player who was sent off in a amateur game right on kick-off.  The player had a bad hangover from the night before.  When the ref blew his whistle to start the game he said "for F *ck sake ref, did you have do that!".  He was then sent off.

In a local Sunday league match a opposition player got sent off by the Ref before it started ( not sure if it went through to FA mind) as one of our players had been sleeping with his ex! Walked out changing rooms and all hell kicked off! Ref said he is not coming on pitch and showed a red! safe to say it was a rather lively game when it finally started!!

Didn't Dean Windass get sent off in the car park before the game?

Not sure how that works, but pretty sure it happened.

Didn't he also get sent off 3 times in one match?!

(Probably the same game thinking about it)

My dad used to be a local league ref and when I was very young I clearly remember him sending a player off long after match had finished
Player was in car park next to ground and he was swearing at my dad
Cos car park was deemed to be within confines of club dad was entitled to do it
Still proud of him to this day!

Seem to remember , or I hope I do . Micky Horswell was sent off pretty quick here .  Think he was with  Plymouth , early 80s .  We had just moved back up here . Sure that was in the first minute , can't find anything though .

What about George Santos in the battle of Bramall Lane? Wasn't that seconds after coming on as a sub?

I once gave a player a yellow and 2 reds in the same game....

1 )    cautioned for unsporting behaviour ( yellow )
2 )    sent off for 2 footed lunge over the ball  ( red )
3 )    informed player I was issuing a second sending off for after match harassment
and foul language ( in front of his manager ) whilst making my way to the changing room.

submitted reports to West Riding County FA...

he got an £ 85 fine and a 110 day ban ( this was in the early 90's) don't know what the current fine would be...

That No. 22 should be banned for disgraceful cheating by feigning injury like that!
