Now he has earnt a longer deal will he stop putting in any effort and  turn upto training p1ssed with police cars chasing him along the A180........
or is that only when he signs a permanent contract ?

This could REALLY ignite the rest of our season!

Wonder if any "lottery money" was used to sway Mansfield?

They have secured a season-long loan for a striker so this makes sense for all parties.  Great.  I was waiting for this good news today.

Is this the first time in yonks that our January signings have actually been any good?

Let's hope he stays fit and continues to play well.

Many have felt that our previous January signings have been 'good' but proven not to be so.

Sweeping statements after one game but I think Robertson will make us stronger defensively but not sure he will get forward to the same degree that an on form Aswad would.

Remains to be seen if Jolley can get anywhere near his previous level of performance and I have been impressed with Zlatan with two wonderful finishes but equally has had other opportunities where he has just hammered to ball towards goal more in hope than the effort of a natural finisher. Which one is the 'true' Palmer we will have to wait n see

My thoughts exactly. Remember how excited everyone got when Devitt signed and that didn't work out. Need to give them time to bed in before we judge whether it's been a good window.

Having conceded a number of goals down the left hand side in recent weeks at home perhaps having a steadier influence at left back might be a good thing!

This, lets keep our heads a bit, get behind the team and hopefully the new January signings will improve the side unlike previous January signings.

I only saw the highlights of the Eastleigh game but it looked to me as though we were better going forward down the flanks as well with a natural left back and Magnay in his best position on the right. Robertson might turn out to be the most important signing of the three.

IMO I think that the new signings and extending Ollies loan are excellent for the club.  This can only help to improve the squad and give PH more headaches about picking his team.  Hopefully we will get Pope and Neilsen fully fit to battle for a place in the starting eleven soon and maybe even Aswad will be back to try and get his place back.  Things look good, but I still want Barnet and Bristol to lose tomorrow

No recall clause either so if he starts when he starts banging the goals in for us, Mansfield can't come asking for him back.

Delighted with the Palmer signing.

I still maintain though that Robertson is the best signing we've made.

We needed a good steady left-back.  Our first-choice left-back was out of the building and very erratic.

We don't need Palmer.  LJL and Pittman is a good enough strike force, supported by Hannah if needed.
We don't need Jolley.  Mackreth has improved, Arnold (despite having found himself a bit of a boo-boy target after a few sub standard displays) is more than good enough plus there's always Neilson.

All 3 strengthen us.  Getting that 'believe' feeling again.

I'm looking forward to seeing Robertson,as much as I like fast attacking wing backs my major concern is getting out of this hole, if Gregor and Magnum can do the biz in their respective slots, defend primarily and back up in attack when needed I'll be delighted.
Good bit of business this January for me, after the dismal failure of a marquee signing such as Brodie I'm happier to secure steady players and getting the team better balanced (though hopeful of Jolly regaining confidence and form too)

I always get behind the team at BP. On here i have a chunter but that's what the site is for.

My regular group had whittled down to just me by the Barnet game. Will be interesting to see if any come back tomorrow after recent performances. I hope so, i have no-one to have a moan with presently.  ;D

Billy Kee and Vadaine Oliver on long term loans for Mansfield was key to the decision I bet, they've signed 6 players this month.

I did some scouring and Palmer signed a 2-year deal at the beginning of the 2012/13 season, so he will be out of contract come the end of the season as well.

Also I wonder what happens after the (final league game) 25th April when the loan ends? IF we are in the play-offs, can we autmatically sign him to play in them as he's a free agent?  Hopefully we already up!  :)

Well I too am going to make the effort once again, think one of our 3 season ticket holders cannot make it Ginny so if your bored pop along to M43 in Upper or it might be. L but brother has my ticket so cannot check. Two guys behind us could moan for England but one of their prime targets , Azza, will not be there so LJL could kop the lot! Hopefully though no time to be bored tomorrow as we bomb forward for 90 mins!

May well do, though i suspect my brother will be back out of exile tomorrow. I have become a bit of a nomad this season. Have a nephew who sits in the Main and one who sits in the Ponny. Sometimes join them but prefer the Upper with my bro and mates, when they turn up. There used to be a rather large group of us who went in the Ponny going back years and years but everything has fragmented over the last few seasons. Some have moved to different stands and some have stopped going.  :-/

Great news, Ollie is the sort of player who without putting the ball into the net still causes havoc in the oppositions defence and never stops running,  a very good aquision.

IMO though from what I`ve seen of Robertson, he is very steady and could easily be the left sided Magnay, apart from some stray passes to start with,  he completely bossed his winger on Tuesday and found time to venture upfield

It's great to have the optimism back, I think with the squad we have now we can really push for that top spot (playoffs minimum)

If it was the playoffs I would fancy us over the two legs and in a one off game we can beat anybody.

we have 3 top strikers for this level, I actually feel with a consistent spell of fitness Pitman would be the best of the bunch, Although I think any combination of 2 of the 3 of them is a match for any attack in this league.

Before you say I told you so, ;)

I feel confident now with the players brought in,

We have a very good chance of getting promoted,

Jolley will need a few more games to get match fit,

BUT

With him and Palmer in the side we can make it,

Our defence has always been good but now we have the fire power to go with it.

The long term loan will include the playoffs anyway (like Devitt's 2 years ago). His Mansfield deal will run til the end of June.

And I don't think it includes a recall clause because I'm not sure it can? (like Marcus Marshall)

Palmer comes over as being very sensible and most importantly, a calm positive attitude.

I know we've had many false dawns in the past, but I really feel that this squad we have got now with the addition of Palmer, Robertson and Jolley can do it.

This is without a doubt the strongest squad we've had since we came down.

This is it, this is our season......Here, now.

OLLIE'S INTERVIEW -  grateful to his Mansfield bosses for letting him have the chance to play regularly here, knowing he was limited with their own loan signings.

Wants to play, wants to score, wants to be wanted and grateful to this club for giving him games.

Ambitious for helping us towards promotion, and out of contract with Mansfield at the end of the season, so in reality, is playing for his next contract offer.

If he can help himself and other forwards to pop in more goals and terrify this league's defenses for 15 games, then how close to automatic promotion can we go?

Competition all round for places now - no let ups allowed - he loves the dressing room cameraderie and is determined to impress the fans - loves the way that the fans have taken to him !!

                                                       ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roll on match days !! I wish the lad well, and hope he has a great run in the team and challenges the Shop for top goal scorer !
