What does everyone think about out chances of the title?

IMO i think we will do it, it will obviously be a struggle but if Hurst keeps his cool, and plays the right teams for each remaining game, i genuinely think we will do it, Barnet seem to be dropping points here and there, and with our games in hand that would put us just 6 points behind them, and if they keep going how they have in recent weeks, and we take advantage, the title is ours.
BUT this is only if every single player puts 110% in their game.

Unlikely. I think we'll have a strong finish to the season and consolidate our play off place but points dropped earlier on have left us with too much to do finish top. Happy to be proven wrong though...

I'd love to see us do it, but I feel we've left it a little too late, it will be either Barnet or Bristol who will get that top spot in my opinion, But with the squad we have now we are more than capable in the play offs..barring injuries and suspensions of course.

worst odds are 7/1 but I think that's about right. I think it's unlikely and we do need a Mansfield type run which is very rare.

However I reckon we have a really good chance in the play offs. We've lost against the rubbish sides not the good ones. It seems on good pitches against open sides we have more quality.

IMHO ,, no we won't win it as champions, we needed players like what we've signed at pre season, so to much of an ask but these are my thoughts.
But I'm more confident about reaching the playoffs and succeeding in them this year

Think Brizzle will do it. I think we will get around 38-40 points out remaining games which will be comfortable into play off places. I think we will make the final and then it's just the case of which team turns up on the day Come on Town make this our season

We are averaging 1.75 points a game over the season, which if carried on would yield another 28ish points over 16 games. That would give us 81 points and enough for a play off spot IMO. Anything more would just alter where we finished from 5th to 2nd as i can't see us winning the league now. It's a big jump in form to get to 38/40 points from 16 games.

I live in hope as ever.

The bottom line is, we can't afford to drop any more points. As soon as we lose/draw a game and Bristol/barnet win, then we've basically ended our chances to an extent haven't we?
Although i think we are capable of going on a run, I think there is also a 'good' chance that we will not get 3 points tonight.

The players need to have the mentality of the fans and just go out their and do it.

Totally agree. Anyway, we'll see in good time. There will be a very different mood on here if the results tonight and Saturday are not what we're all hoping for. No doubt we'll go from boundless over optimism to unrestrained doom - neither of which extremes I go along with.

I think we're all sort of expecting Town not to have a case of 'the emperor's new clothes' and we take a real step away from some of our shortcomings. I've got an open mind and am hopeful, but I worry about tactics and selections, and getting the best out of the players we've got. Let's see...

Do we have the squad to do it now? I'd suggest we probably do.

Do we have the man in charge to utilize such squad and win it? I'm almost certain we don't.

CAN we do it? Yes, we CAN, whether we will or won't? Only time will tell.

It is certainly possible, and I've always said that if it's mathematically possible, then there is always hope and as fans, we should always hope for the best.

I'm hoping for the best! Onwards and upwards you Mariners!  8)

Yeah, that one extra point they have really makes them much more likely to do it, even with our 8 goal bigger goal difference, before we've started scoring properly,eh?

He had nothing to do with signing a genuine left footed corner taking defender, thus releasing our best player to play on the right, and he certainly didn't sign or play our goal scorer tonight, did he?

With the new signings we have a really strong squad,

So yes we can.

Feeling a lot more upbeat and optimistic than I have in a few months I have to say. We sounded great tonight and hope that'll only get better as the new signings gel with the existing squad. Must be some real positivity and optimism in the dressing room at the minute!

I'm starting to sway towards 'it is possible', mainly because of the way we are getting stuck in, this is becoming more like the Town sides we used to know and love (before the decline).

I even sensed some positivity from Hurst in his interview and that gave me more confidence that we are gaining momentum.

This is key going into the business end of the season, Barnet seem to be wilting, Brizze rovers peaked but I feel they will run out of steam.

'Can we do it' , we will if we carry on like this renewed Town side are playing.

We definitely need to go on a Mansfield type run if we are to win it. The last 3 victories - and the manner of those 3 wins - makes me think it is possible, unlikely but possible. UTFM

I actually think there is a bit of leeway, but not much. Barnet have been consistently getting an average of just over two points per game all season and are currently on course to get around 93 points. To beat that, after tonight, would mean we need to get 38 out of the 45 points still available. That's a tall order but the pressure will only grow on Barnet. Having been at the top all season, it's theirs to lose to an extent. Let's see how they handle the pressure on Saturday.

With every win the maths generally moves in our favour. I still think if we don't win the league having the second play-off game at BP will be to our advantage, for which we need to finish second or third. It certainly has been in the past!

Ask me again after Saturday! It's the poor sides we struggle against, especially at home

Well it doesn't when the teams above us also win. In terms of winning the league we'd be better off drawing and the others losing than all of us winning!

I don't know about anyone else but I've not felt this kind of buzz at this point of the season for quite a while. It may be just the aftermath of winning tonight but I kinda have the feeling we actually might do it this season.

Maybe not as champions but a deffo strong play off place.  It seems to me that the camp is well up for everything that is thrown at us and the recent signings have made that even greater.  We have a great squad at the moment just hope no injuries etc get in the way, we could really do with Barnet and the other 'bigger boys' slipping up now and we just keep our heads and pick up those precious points UTM!!

Not only that, but I'm sure Barnet will be tested with bids for Akinde before the end of the transfer window.

The first half tonight was excellent in every aspect apart from killing the game off. If (and its a bit of an unrealistic if) we played like that for the rest of the season then no one in this league would compete with us

11 away games undefeated, settled team, still have to Barnet to play. Yes we can!

just looked at the league table for the first time in awhile and was genuinely shocked. We are in a better position than I thought. Although a lot rests on our game in hand and the barnet away fixture. UTM

I really do hope we win the title - I'm out of the country the day the Conference play-off final is scheduled!

There are a lot of 'ifs' flying around, and at the risk of sounding like the most boring football pundit in the world we just have to take it one game at a time.

Focus on beating Telford on Saturday. That's all the players can do. We pick up 3 points and see where that leaves us.

Then we ignore everything else and focus on beating Dover.

3 out of 48 in the bag ! 45 to go, with just the 3 on Saturday to go for !!

I think we will lose out on the title by goal difference.  We do not seem to kill games of (last night being an example), so that is my reasoning there.

Any one of 12 teams can make the playoffs, but think we are well placed and well on track to keep the momentum going

When we turn up, we can't just beat but we can dismantle any team in this division.
Make Blundell Park a fortress and whisper it quietly but I have a sneaky feeling we can.

A big win on Saturday will be immense, , the 3 above us are all AWAY, , who knows one of them could slip up, ,

Out of interest does anyone have a link or know when the play off semis are? And the date of the final?

Exactly this, you really feel a momentum shift - finally signing good players and ones who have come in and made a difference to the teams solidity and attacking options. Feeling positive - wopuld love to win this league BUT happy to win promotion however we take it! UTM 8) 8)
