Shows how little we care about the trophy as there's no match thread for this vital fixture

Nice to see hurst going for it with a 3-2-5 formation.

Anyone know how many town fans have gone and how we' re getting on?  ;)

Delighted with goal but gutted to have missed our keeper scoring. Have abandoned my car and am now running through gateshead. Should hopefully make second half.

Sooooo up for this game. Come on Town!

I have just noticed Martin Allen has got his whole team sat in the stands, he want's them to see what they are up against on Saturday.I think Akinde has got frost bite in his toes and could be doubtful for Saturday.

I've just heard a couple of Heed fans say that this is the worst home performance of any club, ever.  They are now chanting outside the directors box for the managers head.

This looks interesting, the director has got up and is making his way to the dug out...

Paddy' was starting to warm up but Hurst just told him to get back in the dug outs as he'll only come on in the last minute so doesn't matter if he's cold or not when he lets him have his cameo

I'm at Scotch Corner. Think I may have gone wrong somewhere. Tempted to turn round and sack it off to be honest but I loved the first game so much I am desperate to see how it ends.

Is it still 2-1? May make it for extra time if I get a taxi.

Corner for Town

Inch perfect delivery into the box by Arnold and Bignot rises above everyone to plant a header in to the net. Ref orders a retake though because Pearson had been wrestled to the ground just as it was about to cross the line

Short corner this time but Arnold plays it straight to Baxter who clears upfield then falls dramatically to the ground, looking for a free kick

The game ends  15  -1 to town, Paul says in his post match interview,We have to give credit to Gateshead, they made a real game of it and was very close at the end, I think we just shaded it. Their Striker had a good game and on another day he could have scored a hat full. Our defence struggled at times but managed to keep a clean sheet, I think or did they score one . We've got a much easier game on Saturday and will have quite a few changes for that one. I will try the diamond formation, we did quite well with that against Macclesfield.

Just a rumour going round, Paul Hurst has been linked with the manager's job at Alford Town. When asked by John Tondeur Hurst is said to have retorted "It's none of your business but of course if an offer from a big club like Alford comes along I'd be stupid not to consider it."

My contact in Alford says they are already selling name cards to raise the compensation Fenty is demanding.

Just had a message that two Town fans have stopped at a restaurant on the way home and they've  noticed that there's  haggis on the menu, they've just realized they had travelled the wrong direction on the A1. They have informed me that they are going to travel back to Gateshead and staying over for the rearranged match on Monday. They said it's not worth travelling back to Grimsby for the Saturday game as it is of little importance..

One stumbling block might be the relocation to NEL from Spain - some work needs to be done on this aspect but the council for once are on side with the club and the honours fall to Señor De Freitas  to find a suitable location for him pronto

Well I decided to have a sleep on it before I came and posted on here , I know normally 15-1 away wouldnt be too bad a result but the fact the  had Jimmy Nail , Robson and Jerome , Ant and Dec . Jimmy Five Bellys and Cheryl Cole playing for them tells me they wasnt taking this game serious.
Still not good enough I'm affraid  :-/
