Why did the police think it was wise to close the side streets next to Blundell park when 6000 grimsby fans were descending upon their cars just so that they could shepherd the Lincoln fans onto their buses 3 or 4 streets away? There were families with kids that were left out in the cold just metres away from their cars. Disgusting move by the police IMO

Don't know, but dread to think what the bill will be for town because, they drafted police in today fro Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and humberside.

Totally over the top and not needed. After the game near Tiverton St saw three coppers walking on the path with their batons out heading towards bp.

I said to one of them, ffs mate put your baton away your trying to incite trouble,,, he just smiled at me . Way over the top IMO

The same ones who'd just sat in the cold for two hours without incident? Didn't see anyone die having spent another two minutes outside...

Far easier to contain a few hundred travelling fans at once than let everyone roam free and deal with the aftermath.

Why is it that Town fans  usually get locked in for 10 minutes so that the home fans can disperse but as far as I am aware this didn't happen with Lincoln fans today. Surely the polices main job is to keep people safe so if it means 800 people not being allowed out of the ground then so be it.

Because in the Gestapo Police eyes it gives the people of Grimsby a chance to lay in wait to ambush away fans.

On the way home we were passed by 6 Lincoln coaches with a police escort of at least 10 vans/cars.  This level of escort was also over the top.

Looks like they went to get a ice cream afterwards http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Police-reopen-Sea-Road-Cleethorpes-following/story-25774791-detail/story.html

Totally agree way over the top from the boys in blue . On the way to the ground we were past by 4 coaches with 10 police vehicles for escorts , blue lights stopping traffic waving cars out of the way . On the way back it was more like a blue Christmas light display .
Question is who foots the bill ?

Dramatised as per usual, anyone would of thought there was a seize going on the amount of dibble out. With a bumper crowd and a chance to coil some money in I hate to imagine how much that would of cost policing wise.

For Policing outside the ground it is you and i, the local tax payer!

The Police moan about budget cuts but they can't half waste the money they do have!

Oh and of course if the police had just allowed the 200 Imps hooly contingent to arrive un escorted and wander through Cleethorpes at will from 11.30 a.m you would have all been happy?
I saw the police escort in four coaches of their contingent along the lower prom to Waves where they herded them until kick off i presume, a little inconvenience after the game to allow the wider public to have a safe day is justified.

Lincoln generally have the mickey taken for never turning up here but from what i saw yesterday morning they did this time and the police had them under close control.

Job done as far they are concerned.

Agree with the above. Now social media is massive it's easy for police to know about 'the boys coming' so although maybe people feel they went over the top they clearly knew they had a few boys coming. Imagine if they left it as a normal game and they had 4 coach loads of 'boys' running riot. It'd be chaos

They'd have been dealt with one way or anoter dont worry about that.
The fact they came on coaches were they knew full well the police would round them up shows how scared they are of coming to Grimsby
