BBC Live Event 12 on the Tune-In app for those of us 'stuck' in far flung places such as Antigua and unable to get to the match.

John Tondeur has tweeted that Carl Magnay is at the ground, so presumably will start.

Looks like from the team set up, there is only one recognised central defender. Is Doig injured or has he retired? Seems like we are carrying too many people with injuries - presumably Scott Brown is injured, otherwise he would be first pick in midfield?

Looks like fit players needed in transfer window.

Bristol Rovers and Barnet looking strong.

Say what you like about Rob Scott, and I was no fan of his but he had something that made Grimsby stand up to basic teams like Lincoln. I decided at the seasons start to judge Town on their performances against them, I went to SB for the first encounter and I'm still angry about the powder puff display we put in agains them. This is the final judgement for me, we're a bunch of chokers, bottles, always outrun in midfield , and we'll do exactly the same thing in the play-offs IF we reach them. 2-1 down at H/T to a team with te useless Power, Marshall and f*****g MENDY !!

Will our esteemed leader put in a #righteous showing on the Fishy tonight? Because we either act now or let another season fizzle out to an end and do it all again next year.
No guts, no grit, no care (other than Magnay) about the crowd turning out and watching the usual predictable rubbish. Couldn't bring myself to get to Gy for this game, thank goodness, and after 35 years of watching them I can't see what will spark me into wanting to go anymore.

but is it random when we win? I mean, can both be true at the same time? random wins but predictable losses? really, I am confused......by Town I mean, by Conference football, not by your statement
Posted by: RoboCod, December 28, 2014, 5:05pm; Reply: 102
I think it is random when we win. From what I hear from the Macc game they were poor and we rode our luck. We're gutless, will always choke the big games i.e when the opposition have everything to play for (like a play off)  and we somehow seem to forget what it all really means and end up giving an insipid display. We're a just-about above average team in a hopeless league, I know for sure had we gone 2 down at home to Dover like Barnet did we'd have lost.
Posted by: KingstonMariner, December 28, 2014, 5:06pm; Reply: 103
Let's see what the Just Backers say. Buckley and Tondeur weren't that critical (at least 2nd half - slept through first half). It sounds like we created quite a lot of chances but hit them at the keeper. Obviously unlucky to lose Magnay and Neilson (but why wasn't Mackreth on from the start? Was it some tactical adjustment to cope with Lincoln?)

Overall this one result doesn't change my opinion. I said we weren't good enough (with Hurst in charge) to go up and this doesn't change it.  ;)

I don't think it's random when we win. It's just that when we get a goal first and the opposition don't take their chances we win. Not through playing well, but through being competent. It's not enough though to win promotion.

of course i know what you mean...are we always gutless or just really gutless when we are gutless? i know it's a changed team but last season's FA Cup performances against Scunts, Northampton and Huddersfield were all great....this years team is better on paper.......why are Barnet more consistent this year? Why were Luton more consistent last year? Because it is absolutely consistency that gets teams out of this shizzlehole league, right? I mean, being consistently good :-0

Hurst has shown once again how to lose any new fans that turn up for the big games , there will be less than half that attendance there on New Years day now.
We will not get promoted with him in charge , are we happy to limp into the play offs and get stuffed again by a more hungry organised team ?

4th is about right in a hopeless league, surely? We have qualities, we have enough to make the top 5 easily. But not first position and nothing on the day when the crowds turn up. Buckley's teams NEVER let us down in local derbies, that's what we need to aspire to. I see nothing personally to suggest that will happen under Hurst.

Mainly because we pick up points from boring games away from home,

We have lost twice as many home games than away,

What do you have to say to that ?
Posted by: Teestogreen, December 28, 2014, 5:22pm; Reply: 117
It doesn't take much for a good side (at this standard) to be knocked out of 'synch' with injuries - and I think that is what happened today. (Sounds like Magnay may have been struggling before Lincolns first 2 goals went in) - but went off at half time. This in addition to an already depleted defence.

What is now important is how the club respond to those circumstances in the next few games.

Maybe, or It's possibly just random when we score. God knows we create enough chances.

That much I will accept.

I'll turn up, I don't not go because of one performance

I won't turn up...... because of repeated negative clueless performances.

Until they scored, they looked more average than us. One factor not mentioned before now was Dizzas booking which meant he could not be as aggressive as earlier in CM. An edge was clearly lost after this. Bottom line is, they defended much better than us at critical times. Crowd excellent, ref very good too. Shame too many of our players weren't. Parslow, Thomas and Clay well below par.

The Disley point is excellent. It is not Clay's game to be that aggressive and it surrendered control of the centre of midfield to Lincoln.
