I think we can. From what I gather they are good when teams come and sit deep, play on the counter because they have clever enough players to break down oppositions. They struggle when sided try and attack them, If we had Akinde, where would we be?

Sorry to say no.
Even if we take 6 points off em they will still have enough to win the league.

All it takes to gut a team is a couple of injuries to influential players so they are by no means certainties to walk away with the league.

However, the same thing is true for all teams. If we were to lose, say Pearson and LJL for a couple of months, we'd seriously struggle to cope.

I've not seen any of the matches played by Barnet this season so have no idea what they are like as a team, but their record so far would indicate they are pretty good for this level.

We won't score enough goals, we'll drop daft points and will finish around 15 points short but we'll make the play offs and go out in the semi final.

If you look at the number of points needed to win this league we would need to find a 10 game winning run to do it. Just my opinion , but we don' t look good enough. We need better wingers and a forward to share the pressure with Lenny, he is the only reliable striker. For me the play offs again I am afraid UTM

Of course we can, but I doubt it.

The next few games will help to see, the games against Macclesfield are vital and at least 4 points will be needed if we are to stay in the race for the total.

We can but we won't, unfortunately.

Alas, along with others, possible but we wont do it. It's the points lost against the so called lesser teams as usual im afraid whereas Barnet have done them all big time. They lose 3 on the trot and you think theyve bottled it then they go and win 3 on the spin! I said pre season we should sign Akinde and then he goes and bites me on the ar$e and wins them the title :X

We don't have the firepower to do it and the points lost to lesser sides will cost us in the end.

What he said!! We aren't canny enough at times to break down come round for a draw specialists

I think Barnet can be overhauled but not by us in my honest opinion. Wouldn't be surprised if Bristol did it, we will probably finish 4th for the 3rd season in a row which I wouldn't be dissapointed with. Just waiting for the inevitable end of season lottery!

One thing which has been slightly overlooked is that IF we beat Barnet twice, all the other teams will close right up with them too. Us taking 6 points off Barnet would benefit everyone not just Town

The writings not on the wall yet, it's not impossible, come January 17th at around 3 o'clock we'll have a better picture.

Keep the faith!

Not with this manager.  Can't see us going up via the playoffs either, he just hasn't got the tactical nouse.

When we drew at Telford, i knew we didn't have it in us.

We just don't score enough goals to put teams out of a game and then have an uncanny knack of conceding when the opposition have 1 chance to score.

So unless we sign a goal machine in January, we are play off bound again, where i think our inability to score will see us in this league for another season. Hurst can't to take us to the next level IMO.

No, I don't think we will overhaul Barnet, but I think Macclesfield might get close, as might Bristol Rovers. Still a bit too early to say conclusively, but agree that there'll be a much clearer picture by mid Jan.

Very, very competitive league this year, and, although I think Barnet will stay top, I think 7 or 8 teams will fight it out for the other 4 places. I think we have as good a chance as any of these teams of getting in the play offs, but I basically agree with those who think we have insufficient firepower and limited tactics to gain promotion, and we have dropped far too many points against poor teams, that I believe we will rue quite bitterly come April.

You don't know that we don't have it in us. You think we don't.

Did you think the same about Barnet when they drew there?

Not saying I think we will finish top but writing us off as a fact is just supposition.

No chance. I'll be ecstatic if we manage the playoffs. Who knows what might happen in the playoffs.

Far too many games left and points to play for to make any assumptions for me.Not interested in the points gap, just focused on our games and our results. If that is not good enough then so be it but we have a good squad, do not lose any games anything can happen. I agree with others the league seems very competitive this year.

No. We'd need something like 6 wins on the bounce to catch up and those 2 games against them could just as easily be 6 points lost as 6 points won. We've shown no evidence of a run like that.

We can... but don't think we will
Don't score enough goals when we are on top and are always susceptible to a teams equalising (Altrincham)
Also feel Barnet and possibly Macc (?) will keep chipping in with plenty of points here and there; we will drop points here and there and sadly won't close the gap

There is no Luton, Fleetwood, Crawley this season therefore it's very tight at the top and will be incredibly close to the end; some very good Conference teams won't even make the play offs...look how Gateshead have tailed off a bit.

We are one of 10-12 teams vying for 5 spots - will go down to last weekend I would think

Can Hurst find a Liam Hearn type in transfer window? Sadly, 99.99% certain he can't!

If he could I'd be very confident we could do some serious damage second half of season

Except when we won 5 on the bounce?

We can, I'm not sure if we will though. I think if we take 4 points or more off them we'll be in with a very good chance of winning the league.

Weren't Cambridge top by a few points this time last season?

we already know the answer to this one....a big fat no.. but we will do enough to keep some people thinking we will

If we win one and draw one we'll only gain 3 points on them. Us drawing with Barnet will only benefit everyone else I'm afraid. 2 wins please

Like the optimism but think it will be a big ask.

I think the picture will be much clearer come Feb some of the top teams will lose key players through transfers, the fixtures sees all the top sides play each other often twice and I think it`a 3 horse race any 2 from 3  Town,Barnet and Brizzle Rovers

A long way to go and too early to write us off. I expect Barnet to have a poor spell at some point. It is often harder to stay in front than to come up on the rails. It will be down to which of the top 6 or 8 manage to put a good winning run together in the new year, someone will.
