Ok, a deliberately provocative title but papers down here in Brizzle are going with the back page story that 'Pool are interested in Daryl Clarke. Surely he has less to recommend him to the job than Hurst if they're looking to recruit from the lower leagues?

Think I know, but just wandering what the reaction might be if they showed an interest in The Short One. Personally, I'd probably pay for his fare to the interview and wish him all the best, whist recognising the marvellous service he has given to our club, obviously.

Not sure I understand the title and reason for the thread given that it's a total fabrication and non story.

Wouldn't have a problem with Hurst moving on though.

Even if they were after him I can't see why he'd want to leave a relatively secure job for one where the last bloke lasted 43 minutes (and a team who are utter turd)

Money can persuade anyone to move. Your comment about a utter turd team seems bizarre when you think about the players hurst and Scott had when they first came to this club was some what shocking.

Do Hartlepool have money though?

Sorry, the 'utter turd' bit is about Pools.

(And Clarke played for them so maybe that's where the link comes from. We're not the only club who obsess over former players!)

Non story. It's just a hurst out thread with a different title.

Total pants!

Pretty clear if you read it.  Just using the story down here to ask how people would feel if Hurst was to be chased by another club and whether he has done enough for this to be likely.

Hardly a Hurst out thread.

Can't see him leaving even if he was offered the job. He'll want to get a promotion with us first before even thinking about another job. I mean looking at it from any other Club Paul's been here 3 years and look at the players he's had at his disposal in this league we've always been up there but never pushed that extra bit to go up.

I mean yeah he could go in somewhere and steady the ship but who just wants to stay mid-table. Club owners will be thinking what if we gave him the money for a promotion push could he do it?

He needs a Promotion and can't see him leaving unless sacked. He needs to finish the Job.

If Hurst was to be approached by a Football League club then I would wish him well. He has proven that he has an eye for a player and can provide a competitive team. Think the best he could get is League 2 or desperate League 1 team. Realistically I can only see him staying around Yorkshire.

Hurst's spent enough time trying to get us, and himself, out of The Conference, I can't see him wanting to try with a different team next season.

So Hartlepool are looking to the future and hoping for a manager that can get them out of the lower league hell that is the Vanarama....

If you think of anyone Mr Hartlepool chairman be a sport and let us have first option

What I think might happen is that he leaves in the summer regardless of what happens this season. If we are promoted he might well think the GTFC budget for L2 is not good enough bearing in mind that he will have to more or less start again with team building. Therefore the side will struggle and therefore he will be sacked fairly quickly. Better to jump first.

Money can be a great attraction Les! Depends who comes down next year as well. Some team with a big budget might tempt him to stay in the Conference or there might be a L2 club on the lookout who would be interested if he got us promotion.

If we don't get promoted he might still decide to go before the axe falls. If he has sense he will be on the look out for a get out. There would certainly be an even greater pressure for him to go than there has been already and some Conference side will be interested in a manager who got to the playoffs once, twice or three times.

If Hartlepool want a non-league specialist they must be resigned to relegation already

Come on folks, Paul loves it here, he regards the support he gets from the fans as second to none and he really values the advice he gets from The Fishy members. Could not find that anywhere else, and such a pleasant drive along the M180/A180 each day, what could be better?

If PH was to leave he will or the club interested would have to pay his full years contract worth as its a 12 month rolling contract, same applies if Town were to sack him, he would be entitled to a years salary.  Then there is compensation.
