Was listening to RH tonight and JF said that we are still owed money from the Ryan Bennett transfer to Peterborough and will find out in a few days the outcome.  Anyone else heard about this?

I guess it is from the sell on fee but if it is 'owed' the surely there is only one 'outcome' and that is that they cough up.

He actually said that the way we have interpreted the contract says Peterborough still owe us money, however Peterborough may interpret it differently, so it went to arbitration to be confirmed and we should know the result in a few days.
IMO there shouldn't be any ambiguity in contracts, it should be 'black and white', hopefully it will be. See what I did there ;). UTM

I heard that on RH about lunchtime, but didn't catch the whole interview. Up to now I didn't think anyone else had heard it and I thought I must have been imagining it. I believe Fenty is interpreting the contract in the same way as he (or the clubs solicitor) interpreted the contract between BostonUtd and Hurst and Scott. ie, that we are in the right. Hope it's the case this time round.

I am sure there is no possibility that the club could have cocked something so important up.

Jesus. Who writes these contracts? This never happens on Footy Manager.

Hopefullly whatever money we get (if we get it) it's not in our 'budget' for this season so it'll be an added bonus :)

If I remember rightly, didn't we agree to wait for the money when Bennett was transferred, so Boro could buy another player?

We agreed to wait, I wonder if this is the money that is disputed.

I thought that we also got a share of the sell-on cost to Norwich because Boro did not have the reddies to pay us for the transfer TO Boro.  Complicated, so a lot of scope for different interpretations.

I think the sell on was always in the contract.

May be we expect money now he's a prem player but they thought the payout only applied if he played in prem with them :-)

The problem with the sell on clauses are any additional clauses that the sell on involves.
We may have been eligible for ..lets say 20% of a sell on.... but Peterborough's deal with Norwich may have been an initial fee with extras for playing so many games, England call up, etc etc...the argument/confusion may be around are we entitled to 20% of any additional fees due to Peterborough as well as 20% of any initial fee.

Maybe getyourfactsright can shed some light on why we are made to look like a village idiot with our trousers down sucking our thumbs in the shop window every time we are involved with anything to do with courts or arbitration.

On the general PR/publicity front i think the club have scored a bit of an own goal announcing or discussing this ahead of a decision, keep it quiet until a verdict comes in.

I don't think the club had any choice but to say something  as JF was asked to clarify the current position  by a share holder at the AGM.
If it had not been for that no one would have known about it.

If it hasn't cost us any money then I suppose it was worth a try.
