What a decent manager would do with this squad of players.  Sick of clueless negativity now, can we have a winner. please.

2nd in the league!  Let's see how Paul reacts to Tuesday's game before we start writing him off. Only last month he was named manager of the month and it's only 1 defeat in 8.

Typical GTFC moaners.  2nd in the league with the current manager of the month in charge, and still people can't accept that teams just have a bad game now and then.

This is a forum...why don't you tell us what you'd do with this squad?

For myself:

Think Toto is a class player who loses concentration because he isn't involved enough.

McKeown in goal.

Back line: Walker  Magnay  Pearson  Thomas (full backs who can get forward)

Midfield: Toto (defensive); Disley & Brown (experienced)

Up Front: Pick who you like - I'd go with Arnold, Shop & Pittman (though I rate Nielson)

It's a good squad PH has assembled, but for some their strengths aren't defensive. We have to play a style to let them shine.

If you disagree with what I suggest, please indicate what you'd do rather than just calling me an idiot #probably_true.

This is a forum not (just) a bitching opportunity!

When some people say we have an off day mow and again,

I suggest they read the just back reports,

There have been a lot more off days than good ones,

Yes I agree we have won some games without playing well,

BUT

As a supporter you want your team to excite you,

I was at Braintree and I was as bored watching us win as I was yesterday watching walk round like headless chickens.

Just checked my cv and I can't seem to see anything in my work history that resembles football manager.  Also, I didn't call you or anyone else an idiot so please try not to generalise.

Fed up of Hurst's bluster now. Sends out a team with 5 defenders for a home game and wonders why his team are booed. We have enough attacking threat at the club to go at teams from the start at home and create a positive atmosphere. Many fans I know are staying at home because of this negative attitude - negative tactics, negative selections, negative interviews. Even Magnay questioned the tactics?!

We seemed to have coached the ability out of more attackers than seems possible - Mackreth being the latest - in order to get the best out of Lennie. We may be second in the league but we haven't had our traditional post-Christmas dip yet.

Our last 10 games:
W 6
D 3
L 1

Scored - 14
Conceded - 6

Points 21 which is 2.10 points per game.

that is promotion form.

When Mansfield got promoted:
Mansfield Town Played 46 Points 95 = 2.07 points per game

Barcelona lost to Celta Vigo at home a few weeks ago.

I was extremely annoyed with the performance and result, but was not ready to call for hurst head.

I've moaned about Hurst my fair share but the volume of noise on this board since Saturday is embarrassing.

Yes his tactics have been negative and yes I don't believe he'll ever get us promoted due to his huge inconsistencies, negativity and stubbornness.

However, it's flipping barmy to be ribbing him after the last month or so of results.

Which is the point - not many believe he'll get the club out of this league.

If Buckley had had this run of results and then Saturday had happened, the fans would have put it down to a bad day at the office. The but is that Buckley wouldn't have put out such a negative looking team for a fixture that we should be winning. And before anyone thinks otherwise, I'm not advocating the return of AB, just highlighting the frustrations caused by PH's negativity.

You can name far more average (or worse) performances - particularly at home - than you can good. Kiddy, Oxford, Southport, Altrincham, Dover etc. which is why the fans have little faith in his ability to achieve what this club desperately needs.

Nice to see some good, old-fashioned messageboard craziness on a Monday morning!

Magnay has been our best right-back for yonks, but you want to move him into the centre and play the almost untested Walker instead? Putting Toto in central midfield seems similarly bonkers.  ;)

But how many of those wins have we played well ? Under half, I know I was there!

But we are dropping soft points - mostly at home!

True enough, I'd agree with that if the team was boring but playing consistently well to a plan and winning the games deservedly. But that's not the case is it? Inconsistent and long spells of poor play. The lucky streak that kept us going has run out at least for now. The Woking game is a big one in that respect though why we should ever need to worry about a team like Woking is another matter.

Did Mackreth have more ability in the past than he has now? Or did he just run past Lee Ridley a few times?

Which games do you consider we were lucky in and are there any were you perhaps consider us unlucky?

Do you know what ? I couldnt give a toss..

Same old arguments from the same old people saying the sane old stuff (me included).

We either accept the dire football with the false hope followed by the great wins then bought back down to earth with losing at home again..

I dont and am quite resigned to the fact its the same old same old.

Hurst is a good conference manager no doubt about that his record and award proves that, however what we require is just a cut above that someone who can win the dam thing,  someone with with flare and nous.

With a manager like Paul you are always going to be there or there abouts assuming he has the budget he has now, an excellent manager for the Nuneatons, Lincolns and Southports of this league, but I crave for a John Still type who has and shows the flare and nous, aim low and you will risk missing  the target, lets see what tomorrow brings

just a name for the hat
im not saying bin paul as i go with the flow and dont belive in shooting managers only in extreme cases
this guy has done wonders over the last few seasons
he has good contacts due to his previous
chorley manager Gary Flitcroft

Isn't he our leading assister? No need to slag him off.

Couldn't make it sat so thanks to one and all for where we went wrong
For me Woking is a defining game
Everyone tells me they are (if not thee) best side in the league
So let's see which town we get (we play better against better teams)
If we win I will be full of hope for automatic or third time lucky in playoffs
If we lose (and Torquay at home style lose) then I know it's could be another one of those seasons
Come on Town!!

I'm not slagging him off. I'm questioning the theory that he's lost ability under Hurst's management.

Ah that's ok then. Sorry to misinterpret your post. I do usually agree with your posts so was surprised at this one ... Now I know why.
