Could be wrong but I think he has potential,if he has signed Town have taken considerable effort re his work status.

Unless he has a long lost brother who is an EU member then I don't see how he could possibly qualify for a work permit.

I've long since retired.

If he has signed then it's good news. Hopefull It'll put Hannah down to 4th choice. I've been saying all season that he isn't good enough. No pace, strength, doesn't hold up the ball or play others in, his finishing isn't great and now Lenny is scoring he has no point. Pittman is quicker better in the air and has a better finish than Hannah. I've heard Watson has some pace. What do we know about him?

With a name like Hamish, he must have some Scottish in him! (and being from a commonwealth country must help?)

Extremely harsh on Ross. He's a good player in the right system. Unfortunately PH doesn't play the system that suits him, at this moment in time.. I've no doubt Ross will play a part in the second half of the season.

scored 3 in that recent friendly.

looks a biggish lad, but never actually seen him play

Hang on a minute, Hannah is a clinical finisher and if played in another formation would score for fun, don`t panic he will have some part to play this season

What formation would suit Hannah then?

Bar his loan spell, he's played in a number of formations and excelled at getting caught offside in every one.

Sam is right on the money for me.  Hannah offers nothing.  He can't hold the ball up, can't link play up, is pretty poor in the air, shows average pace* and for me isn't actually that great a finisher**.   I guess he's at least added a grafting element to his game this season, but we could have kept Southwell on a lot cheaper wage to do that (and probably more).

* and ** Frustratingly he has shown in glimpses that he has got a quick turn of heel and can be clinical in front of goal.  Classic example of this is his second goal against Lincoln in the Lincs Cup Final.

Not seen anything of this Hamish lad so not going to suggest he's better than Hannah but I wouldn't be disappointed to see Ross go in January if it means we can bring someone in better suited to our system (i.e pace and/or power) or even if it meant we kept Parslow/Pell.

I hear Corby would like to sign Hannah. ;)

I keep hearing people say Hannah is a clinical finisher. Is he? I've not seen any evidence of that for about a year now.

I remember seeing Hannah before the friendly match against Mansfield at home in July. From 25 yards he was curling the ball into the top corner - one after the other, very consistent. Unfortunately, the only consistency he has shown in matches this season is his quite remarkable ability to be caught offside on the break. In the 12 games he's featured for us this season he's scored two goals. I imagine those who are suggesting he should be given a chance are the same people who suggested after one, two or three games that we should drop LJL and play Hannah and Pittman together. Personally, I wouldn't mind if Hannah was to leave in January.

Agree, wouldn't mind seeing Hannah leave in January IF it meant we got someone else in with pace and power. Hannah offers very little.

North has signed for Shamrock Rovers so that puts an end to any rumours of him coming back. CDAJATL? :p

Not a Hannah fan myself, but away at Kiddy earlier this season he was outstanding, playing up front on his own and did a good job of holding the ball up using both strength and skill. I suppose he must be like Colbeck/MacKreth only turns up once every few games. :-/

I look forward to seeing Hamish on the bench on Saturday.

He might even get 5 minutes on the pitch.

Think people are being very harsh about Ross . I said weeks ago that the style  and tactical jigsaw that PH trys to implement doesnt suit Ross . The style has change since Ross arrived but Ross hasn't been able to adapt . Having to chase and collect the ball from the half way line and picking up scraps from Lewis or on for bit parts , it's not the way he plays .
Would Ross be contacting his agent for a move ?  The further down the pecking order he gets the more likely it will happen .

Totally agree. He would score in a 4-4-2 as he's proven before.

Thanks for that , but we have to put up with this 4 5 1 . Frustrating negative football , it's not exciting , some may say we're second in the division , best defence in the division  , yes fare enough . We have players who , given the right system and tactics could play attacking attractive and winning football .  The thing is we see it in flashes so know we can do it .

We haven't been playing 4-5-1 the entire time since January 2013 and he hasn't scored regularly for any amount of games in that time.

He played up front with Lennie near enough all last year and still only managed the same amount as the much-maligned Craig Disley!

Ross scored and played better when being fed by Nielson ,  that system changed . Now he has to play off Lenny , which isn't hasn't and never will produce much .  As most are saying we have a very good group of players , it's justwhat you do with them .

well this soon turned into a Hannah thread...

I don't think Hamish will be on the bench on Saturday.

We'll have to accept the possibility that if we don't use Hannah (and McLaughlin), we'll lose them.

As opposed to playing off Cook previously. This year we are playing 4-5-1 but last seasons we played 4-4-2, the exact same way as we did the season before (with Neilson in the team as well) and Hannah didn't score very often. I don't think it can be blamed entirely on the system either. He gets chances but doesn't put them away, the Torquay game being a good example. Given the amount of time he's been here I think it's long enough to make a judgement on him and I would say he was in a purple patch when on loan and scored a lot more than he usually does. Now that has finished, we see his goalscoring isn't as good as people make out and he rarely contributes much else besides.

Another Cook Southwell then, got to move on to succeed,

Hamish might be an option to play in the FA Trophy games. Yes he scored 3 against Corby, but Ross scored 5 so we have not learned a lot there, except Corby are well below our standard.

Hannah's record above the Conference North is poor to average (even if you want to factor in his loan spell with us).

Nothing personal against the lad, he just doesn't offer us anything.  No different to how Connell didn't offer us anything when he came back earlier this year.  If he doesn't offer anything he's a waste of a wage I'm afraid.

For me it doesn't matter what system we play, Hannah doesn't fit into it.

I would be surprised if Hurst doesn't try to offload him in the January window.  I suspect his strike-rate and (I'm guessing) relatively high wage may prove a sticking point.
