Well, just one reason why, in this footballing wasteland that is Lincoln:

Pretty disgraceful for a so-called professional newspaper, but after all these years nothing amazes me anymore about this place. It's almost like St Giles, the Ermine etc don't exist.
Still banging on about the 3-2 win after their slump, their awful 'gardening leave' treatment of their manager (Hey, Simpson if Moyses does'nt work out you can come back).
I'm finding myself looking ever more keenly at this joke club and its league position with interest.

I wish their circus of a football team the very worst.

Well they will not have bragging rights when we stuff them 6-0 at Blundell Park.

They can have the "bragging rights" if they like, I wouldn't trade it for their league position or squad.

I can't believe the editor would allow an article like that to be published. How desperate must they be for articles?

Monks road,  St Giles, Ermine, say no more East Europeans thieving and stabbings,  Grimsby and its problems pale when you compare, tonights Look North reports on the easy access of legal high drugs

Think you need to chill. Firstly, there are a lot of town fans who live here in Lincoln, secondly all places have good bad and indifferent people in their populus and thirdly Grimsby is no better or worse a place.  I know a lot of comments are made in jest but its bloody annoying when these catch all phrases are tossed out.

Up to now always thought your comments were pretty good and fair minded, but must go thats my sister at the door, wonder what she wants

I have bragging rights over Lincon because when I use to box for the Grimsby ABC in the 90s I took 3 Lincoln lads on over the space of a year at Yarborough Leisure centre in Lincoln and beat all 3 of them on points.

Grimsby 3 Lincoln 0  ;D

And on the same online front page, they have the story of a Lincoln man who tried to get an under age female to have sex with a dog !!
Yeh, wonderful place Lincoln.

I don't mind them to be honest. They are irritating but I have no genuine hatred towards them. Envy is the one word I think they feel towards us.

intercourse'em. We've got more in common with the big Yorkshire towns and cities than those carrot crunching yokels.

A man goes into a bar with his dog in Lincoln city centre.
He buys a beer and props up the bar. Looking up, he notices the TV screen above the bar, relaying the latest scores via Sky Sports news. He watches with interest....

The final scores start to come in. As the Lincoln City result flashes upon the screen, the dog promptly rolls over onto his back, waggles his paws in the air and howls. The Barman, looking up startled, asks the fella "What's all that about?!"
The owner rolls his eyes and replies "Yeah, sorry about that........he always does that when Lincoln lose".
The Barman looks bewildered and asks "If he does that when City lose, what does he do when they win?!?"

"Oh I couldn't tell you" shrugs the man.........."I've only had him 10 months".

That's some of the most urine poor journalism I think I've ever seen. I don't even live in Grimsby or Lincoln, but they should be embarrassed about the dross they're putting to print.

It's the shoddy reporting that's amazed me. I have my family split over Grimsby and Lincoln going back generations and those who were Lincoln born and bred will be mystified by this, it's obviously done solely to get a few LOL'z from a few dozen Lincoln fans.
No reporter has put a name to the piece either, but the irony is that Skint could easily make a show here, and in any Town in the UK. The ongoing attempt to move the numerous drunks from the church (who were an unofficial greeting party for anyone stepping off the train at Lincoln Station) one of many aspects of the drinking and loutish culture that Lincoln has.
Or maybe (and getting on topic) it's just a clever distraction to stop fans from questioning just how Moyses has manufactured and bought himself a situation where he becomes the manager, while daft old Bob crosses his fingers and hopes.

Why is the reporting in the Lincolnshire Echo so shite? For the same reason that the reporting in the Telewag is pretty shite (though admittedly, not quite as bad). They are owned by Northcliffe Media (or whatever they are called these days). Used to belong to the Daily Mail, hence the gleeful hunt for stories about scumbags and their ASBOs, lots of 'naming and shaming' of people and the like.

That said, the linked Echo article is embarrassingly bad.

I was born and lived in Grimsby until I was 15 and then moved to Lincoln.  As I have family and of course home matches to go to, I'm along the A46 quite a lot.  What really saddens me about this article and the need for both "newspapers" to be trading insults, is that it is the entire area that gets dragged down.  Let's face it, Lincolnshire generally is known as a fairly rough, agricultural/traditional industry area, whereby the old stereotypes still exist for outsiders.  The last thing we need is for the media to hype up this terrible, dramatised edited nonsense, that I have now doubt could be filmed practically anywhere in the UK.

Pretty much, I suppose it's a form of click-bait for a website that needs more hits, and those local newspaper sites are pretty desperate places. To wrap the whole sad aspect of this countries social failings in an attempt to boost the football team is mind boggling to me. Still trying to understand how a win months ago takes top bragging-rights over our 13 point lead over Lincoln, 2nd in the table position, ( it's not like their manager is even around to join in the bragging rights) never mind how it all relates to dumbed down tv like Skint.

Let's see how things are at the seasons end, could be some very tasty stuff on the Echo; ( remembering their "Welcome GTFC back to the home of Lincolnshire football again next season" mocking Tweet when we lost in the play-offs)

Indeed and they also conveniently seem to have forgotten the more recent Lincs Cup Final.

Sadly there's going to be more of this kind of drivel next week once Skint broadcasts. The media at its absolute worst. Why go after the strong and the powerful who dodge billions of pounds of taxes when you can get a few cheap laughs and drum up a bit of faux outrage over some of the poorer and more vulnerable people in the country?

And how about the potential Westminster-Paedophile ring ? Quite possibly the most explosive story in recent times. None of the 3 main parties are in any hurry to move it on as they all have current dirty linen in this area that they are desperate to keep under wraps. So much corruption and misuse of power going around....

But yeah, let's laugh at some skivers  :-/

Agree completely. Absolute sitting ducks for them. Showing poorly educated, poverty stricken people with all kinds of problems, living on the margins of society and badging it as entertainment is grotesque stuff. As for the idea that Channel 4 are prioritising poverty as a current affairs issue - it's laughable because we all know it's about ratings and nothing else.

Or people who are too desperate or ill-educated to realise how they'll be portrayed.

No problem and as you can see from this thread there quite a few of us town fans over here. Think we will have to form our own supporters club!

I sent an email questioning the judgement of the editor in printing the article and got this back.

Thanks for your email.
The original article was not intended to be offensive, and the author was simply intending to poke fun at some of the stereotypes which exist within Lincolnshire.
That said, we are happy to admit that it may have been misjudged and have today published an apology to the people of Grimsby, accompanied by a selection of lovely pictures from the area.

As an update to this Skint thing, here's the genuine face of Grimsby, decent hard working guy http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Skint-trawlerman-features-TV-calls-executives/story-24584765-detail/story.html

Fact is Channel 4 thought they'd dupe people into this but he rumbled them. I'd personally inform all the papers that Channel 4 sent a 'wired' person into my home and sue them for invasion of privacy.
