Interesting call to switch the CBs around. With this pairing I’d be sticking with how we usually play - Pearson on the left and Toto on the right.

I'd have Arnold a couple of characters further right too!
McKeown
Parslow (I assume Magnay's being left out)
Nsiala
Pearson
Thomas
Clay
Disley
McLaughlin
Arnold
LJL
Neilson
Subs: everyone else

I can't see Neilson starting since Humberside have reported he missed training today due to illness.

I'm an unconventional manager, Chris - colds, headaches, ebola, all welcome in my XI.
(Code for: oops, didn't know that - stick Pittman in instead)

Basically thinking of resting our 'stars' ahead of Tuesday but still think it's a competitively strong team that can win.
..........................McKeown
............Nsiala.....Pearson.....Doig....
Parslow.........Disley......Winfarrah.......Thomas
..............................Paddy.......................
..................Pittman...........Hannah
Subs: Humble, Bignot, Walker, Clay, Mackreth, Arnold, John-Lewis.
Try breaking that down...
Think Winfarrah will be much better suited in central midfield - HOPEFULLY good enough to do a job.
For me, it's tailor made for cup man Hannah to start if only for his work rate - we're gonna need it !
And who can forget the impact of Paddy in the FA Cup last season ?
Whatever we do, let's not play them at their own game.
No taking risks passing it round the back for ages, get it up there and most of all, get the crowd involved !
Bombard them at set pieces, put them under pressure (they may not like it up 'em !) the crowd geed up and if deadlock, roll out the super-subs to secure the win.
Let's not kid ourselves - they're gonna have their fair share of possesion and they've got goals in them.
If Braintree was "tough", this is gonna be another Huddersfield rollercoaster ! (hopefully with the opposite result)

5 defenders? Playing Winfarrah as a defensive midfielder? I think everyone already knew it, but you're an absolute nutcase 80s.

I agree with Abdul's team. However, I reckon Mackreth will get the shout ahead of Pittman.
A front 3 of Pittman, LJL and Arnold could be a real handful for any defence to cope with but I wonder if it would leave the midfield a little bit exposed as the two wide players are the sort you'd expect to see pushing on more than coming back to defend.

2 defenders trying to push forward and 3-4-1-2 in attack.
Not sure why you think he's playing as "defensive midfielder", moreso it's Paddy playing as an attacking midfielder.
If Hurst goes full strength (as he can), really hope we win and we're not scratching our heads wondering who plays on Tuesday.
Appreciate the insult.

Lose in one area, you gain in another.
Swings and roundabouts.

Looking at the table I reckon Oxford are more Braintree than Huddersfield.
PS. Scoring loads in the Lincs Cup does not make Hannah a 'cup man' ;)

Those who looked at the table earlier in the season probably thought we were worse than Braintree too.
In any case I wasn't really thinking about "strength".
More that it's likely to be a rough and tumble rollercoaster FA cup game.

I've a feeling it will be this; its cautious and defensive, but allows us the luxury of Pittman, Neilson (if fit) and Hannah as 3 to bring on. Also, Parslow's versatility means you don't really need defenders on the bench, maybe Walker, and then Paddy, Winfarrah, and Venney/Humble the other subs.
Having said that; I'd rather Parslow at RB and Pittman in from the start ;-)

I have gone for this 4-5-1 which can also be attacking with Neilson and Mackreth down the wings, Paddy can get forward with Disley and Parslow sitting, i have left Magnay at home to recover put Clay and Arnold on the bench can't risk them getting injured big game on Tuesday and wanted to rest most of the first team players if was up to me i would throw in Walker, Winfarrah and Venney from the start.

Magnay won't be too bigger loss. Parslow will deputise well and Magnay will probably be fit for Tuesday. So you could shove Parslow into holding midfield and leave Pell out if Clay plays well or if he is poor play Pell.

I'd like to see this formation against Oxford;
Macca
Parslow. Pearson. Toto. Thomas
. Clay. Disley.
Mackreth. Arnold.
Neilson(if fit)
LJL.
SUBS obvious really.
Go for it Town, UTM

I think it will be the usual suspects with Bignot in for Magnay and Parslow in for Pell. Why change the team or formation unless you have to? We are on a great run at the moment let's keep it going. UTM

If we have been watched by Oxford they will expect that so why not go 442 and surprise them

Note to self; never put own preferred team on Fishy, as when he picks the XI you want, its difficult to criticise the manager when it doesn't go right......
Ah well, on to Tuesday!
