A larger than normal England 'C' squad has been announced and yet we have no one chosen. Good news or bad.
Omar Bogle is in the squad though as is Connor Jennings.

Good news (although is it only Mackreth and Clay that would be eligible anyway?)

Mackreth can't play - isn't he qualified for Wales instead - bit of a minor Giggsy mistake ?????

Giggsy could not have played for the full England team but could play for the youth set up because of where he lived.

London: Team GB captain Ryan Giggs has reiterated the option of representing England as a full international was never open to him.

Giggs played for England Schoolboys before going on to represent Wales over 60 times in his illustrious career.

But the Manchester United midfielder was never eligible at a senior level and has corrected those who believe he should have been an England player, rather than feature for his country of birth.

"There was a lot of confusion about the situation because I played for England Schoolboys," he told the Team GB website.

"Then, because of the problems England had on the left of midfield, people would say to me `you should have chosen England`. But I was never able to choose England."

Yep, that's my favourite footballing myth too. Wales and Sierra Leone were his only options!

Didn't know about Mackreth though.

Why isn't Aza allowed to be selected. He's played for England C before.

24 and under. I think several GTFC players (Pearson, Thomas, LJL) are slightly too old.

Great news that none of our players have been picked for this tinpot team. It makes me so angry that the FA decides to subsidise this ludicrous concept when it could invest in grassroots football or junior coaching. Yet another reason to get out of this excrement league.

I was working in Belgium at the time Thomas was called up. The match was away in Brussells. I left work early, drove for an hour and a half but couldn't find the ground.

I was sure that the match would be 'big' enough that someone would know where it was being played. But everyone I asked diddn't have a clue where it was. I even drove to the top of a hill to look out over the city for any floodlights that were on but ended up having to drive back without seeeing the game.

My biggest regret was not getting the chance to write a 'Just Back' thread.

;D

Above and beyond the call of duty that!

I have a mate who wants to go next week but as there are no Town players playing I really hope I am not sad enough to go. Halifax is not far from where I live though so haven't completely ruled it out.
