Me plus 10+. I'll be heading down from London on Friday afternoon. Any recommendations for pubs etc for when I get there? I believe we're staying in the Travelodge. Any thoughts on numbers on the back of a positive display at Wrexham?

Lass on the phone said it'd been booked by Grimsby Town Football Club under the name of John Fenty...

The choice was the Oxford CAMRA beer festival or watching The Town in Torquay: the wife chose Oxford. Hope she made the wrong decision and we win, the beers will help me get over it of course.

I'll be there for the weekend too,

Thoroughly enjoyed our last visit there early on in our relegation season when we won 2-0. Great Saturday evening out around The Harbour area too.

There's a decent pub/club (Boots & Laces) at the ground which is well worth a couple of pints.

Some great pubs in torquay. Was there only 3 weeks ago. Some nice bars round the marina and if you go in a bit, a cracking bar called rock garden. Possibly the best pizza I've had! Other bars include mambo (view from the roof terrace is good) and a pretty decent cider bar as well.

The one next to Torre station? The only one I think. That's where we'll be too. Town songs at 4am Saturday I heard.

I'll be meeting a couple of Torquay fans I know in Boots & Laces at the ground at 1.30pm. Met them last time we played there 5 years or so ago and meeting up again for the first time since.

It's a cracking club/pub which is part of the ground and well worth a visit for a couple of pre-match pints or so as they welcome away fans.

Saturday night will be an evening out around the harbour/quay area.

I have been warned though for those traveling on the day, there are major roadworks around Newton Abbot so allow a bit extra for time.

Don't know where it is mate we will just bang the postcode in the sat nav and set to Delorian to autopilot!
If it's of any use to anyone, i've spoken to a couple of peeps down there. They recommend Sharpes, St Austells Brewery, and Plymouth ;D
Also, and i quote......
"In Torquay you have the main shopping drag near harbour which has The Rock Garden which is new or a Wetherspoons The Green Ginger. They're on 1 side and there are pubs other side too. There's a few places right by the harbour too, then round corner from Debenhams there's another Wetherspoons. Near this Wethers across the road up a side street there's a really old pub called 'Hole in the Wall' if you like small pokey places. (Nice real ales in here lol)

Babbacombe downs is not too far from football ground, there's a few places along there.

If you venture over to Paignton there are some down the main Street towards seafront there or couple of big places along the seafront opposite the beach. "

That's where we ended up having something to eat on the Saturday evening the last time we played there. There were loads of restaurants of all different cuisines on the main road but every single one of them was absolutely packed and not one had a spare table for at least an hour. Don't know if its going to be that busy again this Saturday.

The food in The Hole In The Wall was superb though.

Yes but living where I do these days, I only get to around 10 games a season. So, sad as it might seem, I really do treasure the ones I get to!

I would imagine you could get far more excitement on and off the pitch at some of those Belfast proddy/ Catholic derbies!

Yeah, but the football is crap compared to even Conference standards, and following Town still has its moments!

Good on you mate. Watching two teams you don't give a flying fook for is boring no matter what the hipsters may say. Sounded class today.

Doesn't matter who we're playing or what league we're in, I still get excited at the opportunity to watch our team, and have a decent day out (it helps if the place we're heading is a nice spot/has some decent boozers of course).
