Hopefully he can stay fit when we get him back. Thought him and LJL were forming a good partnership before he got injured.

Need him back asap as it appears the self-professed 'Goal Machine' is out of order. Perhaps needs to be reminded that his contract will soon be up.....

Contracts up in January isn't it?

The summer. (Why would it end in the middle of a season?!)

We need a striker on loan before our next game, I liked the look of Altys No 9 tonight

Should think so, it was Damien Reeves. He's scored about 900 goals! Sad how he is wasting his footballing days playing for them. He earns a lot from his own business apparently so playing part time in the Manchester area suits him.

Reeves was number 10 and he was very poor.

Altys number 9 is Steven Gillespie. He didn't play against us last week

Think garth meant Alfretons no9, which would be Paul Clayton. He's decent but no better than Lenny IMO.

Wasn't Hurst at a game on Wednesday?
Could he have been at the Kiddy vs Welling game looking at Harry Beautyman who is scoring for fun in our league and is second top scorer or a Kiddy Striker. They have Stytche, Craig Reid, Nathan Blisset and Michael Gash and they are skint so they maybe looking to offload.

I think Paul will be looking at a league 2 striker, currently not getting a start. Maybe someone who has scored goals in the conference before.

Somebody like Luke Norris who has been out on loan at Dagenham and Northampton but not getting much game time at present

That would tie in with his comment about giving competition to what we already have. In other words he isn't looking to buy a goalscorer in form, just get a bog standard journeyman forward like we've got to boost the numbers. How exciting. :-/

A goal scorer in form is not likely to be available, unless from a lower league.

It always makes me laugh when people are crying out for Town to sign a striker from the lower leagues  . As proven with players we have let go , it must be alot easier to score in the leagues directly below . A gamble on a striker who isnt getting games in league one or two ( not an unfit or young player with no experience either) would be a better option imo .

Correct I thought his movement aerial supremacy and powerful shot was better than Lenny, he looked like another Livo  to me

They said he had been at Alfreton for 7 years and scored 30 goals,

He did have a good game but no better record than Lewis.

If we signed Wayne Rooney someone on here would moan!

Connell`s goal scoring record improved no end here Pete, its all about playing with better players, I have only seen him the once but worth a chance IMO

Too similar to LJL. Not for me thanks.

The 2 times a year I watch Alfreton I've always thought Clayton looks quite good. Scored 17 in the Conference 2 years ago but only 7 last season.

His goal record is far superior to John-Lewis, but mostly at a lower level. Not getting any younger though (obviously).

Alex Wall from Luton wouldn't be bad. 12 goals in 17 starts in the conference but doesn't seem to be getting a look in at Luton.
Ryan Bird doesn't seem to be starting for Cambridge so maybe a move here could be beneficial.
Joe Lolley doesn't seem to be getting a look in at Huddersfield.
Matt Green is another player who doesn't seem to be getting a look in at Birmingham so maybe worth a punt.

I hope we have one in place for after the fa cup game. Leaving it till a quarter of the way through the season is taking the p1ss. This should have been sorted out 3 months ago.

I think if Lolley and Green were going to go out on loan then it would be probably to a team in league 2

Some interesting shouts in there, although Wall would seem a bit ambitious given his appearance and winning goal for Luton at Stevenage last week. He's cover for Moody.

I would really try and go for Gash. Experienced conference striker who knows the league and has scored goals down here.

It would be really ambitious but Lee Gregory doesn't seem to be getting a look in at Millwall or not on a regular basis. I doubt we could be able to tempt him but who knows.

I think he has started Millwalls last couple of games

Surely they would be stupid to let him go on loan. Even if a fee was involved they would not get anything for him until January and I would guess that if he carrys on this form till January then there will be league clubs offering double what we could offer him. Although Welling get gates of 600 and we get 6 times that so you would expect for us to be able to offer him a better package than what he is currently on although would he come up north?

Hearn rates Clayton as the best striker he's played with. I know he hasn't exactly been spoilt for choice on that front in his career but could be a good foil for Pittman, another option to Lenny.

JPP has returned to training and "looked pretty good" !
Although Hurst thinks due to the nature of the injury, JPP wants more training in his legs and got the impression Torquay maybe too soon.
