Striker Terry Gornell has asked to leave Cheltenham. Youngish player 24 years old with not the most amazing strike record about 1 in 4 but as a league player. Could do a job here. At least he isn't a crock. Give them a knock Paul and lets have him in till Christmas. We won't get a prolific man in and clearly players arent kicking our door down to come otherwise someone would have been in by now.

Usual question though...why would he drop to this level?

Signed wondered if it was gornell that ph went to watch.he said later that the striker he'd watched was no better than what we'd got.....

Possibly. Only came on as sub the other night so don't think he would have had the chance to impress. Just know prolific strikers are playing at their clubs. Other players are either coming back from injury or havent played at all. Why would he drop to this level. he might not but for regular football and the chance to bang a few in he might.

However Gornell did score on the night. So did something right

The important thing is though PH needs to sign someone who is better than we have already, someone who would be capable of being an ever present, otherwise why sign anyone if he is not capable of pushing Pitman, Hannah, LJL or Arnold when all are fit? He would just become a bench warmer eating away at the budget, granted it would appease all the guys on here shouting for a striker, any striker, but it wouldn't be long before they would be moaning again about another poor signing.
My hope would be Pitman becomes available soon and stays fit because I think he will score goals and Arnold decides he wants to play and feels comfortable with any niggle he may have because I do believe he has goals in him. And then when we get to January when more players become available get someone in to strengthen.

According to a Cheltenham town fan :

On his day, very good. Just doesn't have many. Spits his dummy out and bit of a 'lad'

The new Richard Brodie??

We are just desperate for something positive . So many lows over the past years , it's getting a chore supporting constant failure .  Scunny sack their manager , 2 days later sign a proven manager where we dither about hoping Hurst might get it right . Robins will get them going again and all we can do is look enviously up the M180 wondering how it all went wrong from 13 years ago . However that is another thread .

Sleepless nights may be a thing of the past for Terry Gornell after he broke his scoring drought, but the striker’s first goal for 352 days may have been his last in a Cheltenham Town shirt.

not convinced its what we need

I think fans just want to see any striker join, hence this thread. I'm not too sure he's our man though.

They are two divisions higher and with the right manager a steady Div 1 team. I would imagine if we were in Div  we wouldn't have a problem getting a decent manager , in the presen football climate. We need a manager who is guaranteed to get us back into the league, which is a completely different scenario.

What makes you think Arnold has goals in him? He's scored 63 goals in 328 games.
