136 years ago in the month of September our football club was born under the name off Grimsby Pelham.
(I understand today is the day the meeting was held)

So Happy Birthday to my club, your club, OUR club!

In 1972 when Laurie Mac came to Grimsby from Doncaster, being a big friend of Leeds United Manager Don Revie who did a remarkable change round in the strip that Leeds United had when he first joined them, made them play in an all white strip just like the great side Real Madrid wore in them days.
Leeds went onto play brilliant football and won some great games in the all white strip.

When Town appointed Laurie Mac one of the first things he said was I want to change the whole structure off Grimsby Town on and off the pitch, which the chairman Mr Paddy Hamilton agreed with but to change the black and white stripes to an all white strip that was a big thing.

So what was agreed was that Town played in  all white sleeves and black and white stripes down the front and back the compromise was achieved.
This is a true story, I can tell you.

Happy Birthday to my club. We have been through ups and downs together over the last 50 years ( both the club and my personal life ) but GTFC is still my only football club. A Mariner Until I Die.

Thankfully we're not  Corinthian Casuals. Chocolate and pink army sounds like, well, best not go there.
