Anyone fancy telling me why the hell PH brung in Mackreth if all he is going to do is rot on the bench?

Last season he was bloody amazing, one of the best on show in this league, now he has been retained to the bench?

i'm not a fan for the tinkering which PH has been doing, but if he is going to keep tinkering at least give the lad a chance and give us a full chance to see what he can do.

To be fair, he hasn't looked that great, at times a bit like a young Colbeck.

A physically weaker Colbeck for sure. However, thought he looked threatening yesterday.

Can't say he's impressed me this season in his fleeting appearances (he did start the season but got injured don't forget) but he got 32 minutes yesterday and looked ok. Wouldn't be surprised to see him start on Tuesday.

First chance I had to see him yesterday and was very impressed. The Colbeck comparison is a terrible one on that showing, Mackreth has pace and can take players on. Something Colbeck could never do.

I'd like to see him play tuesday tbh, maybe in a 433 Him and Neilson upfront.

thought he looked okay saturday.

I have always rated Jack Mackreth in this league, and was hoping we signed 2 season's ago, but no league club have come in for him and it's probably because he's inconsistent like a lot of Conference players. What we don't do for him is get supporting him he gets marked by 2 players and no one helps and no one gives him a outlet, we need to get him into space because he has pace to burn i would like to see diagonal passes to him to get him in behind the back four. I think he can be good winger for Ross Hannah.

Agree seems a bit lightweight but got stuck in on Sat and once he hits the bye line he can certainly put in dangerous crosses.

His best performance for us on Saturday. Just a pity we weren't able to get the ball to him a little more often when he came on as he looked to have the beating of that full-back. I suppose the problem was that we just didn't have the players to create space for him once LJL was forced to go off.

Exactly!

I've seen Makreth in all games he has made an appearance this season, and to be honest I haven't been that impressed with him. Ok, he did alright on Saturday when he came on with 30 minutes to go, but if he had started he would probably just have been part and parcel of what was a dismal display. He came with a great reputation but for me he hasn't lived up to it yet

Having seen every game he has played or come on in even all the friendlies, I base my view on his ability to create anything which so far hasn't been up to much and that is where I draw the Colbeck comparison.

If he was that good one has to ask why isn't Paul Hurst picking him to start a game.

I would like nothing better for him to come on and terrorise defences and start creating chances for our forwards.

I thought when we signed him he had blistering pace and would be unstopable, so why keep him warming the bench

To be fair he's quick of the bench

Before Saturday he'd resembled Colbeck in pretty much every appearance. The Torquay game was the first time I'd seen him show flashes of what he's supposedly good at (running at fullbacks and putting in crosses).

He did well on Saturday.  Sometimes our players expected him to get a cross in and therefore did not support him or be there to provide an outlet.  We can make more use of his talents.

Goes against the grain though
