What a shame our council can't be as helpful.

It has taken many years for the new stadium to get this far.  There has been continuous political in-fighting.  There is also large debts to manage.   The capacity is 8,000, up from 5,000 or 6,000 in earlier plans.  We would need more than 8,000 to meet future potential.

It is also away from the city centre, which will alienate some fans.

Bootham Crescent is worth far more as land for new houses than Blundell Park is.

Interesting;

The York plans include new leisure facilities as well.

Grimsby council want to rebuild new leisure facilities to replace the outdated leisure centre.

Maybe I'm thinking out aloud, but there's plenty of land around the leisure centre, could someone somewhere join up the dots.

No probably not, it's Grimsby.
