The word on twitter is that he's been recalled ??)
Posted by: Tommy, September 2, 2014, 12:05am; Reply: 1
Wouldn't bother me too much if I'm honest. Good player and I wouldn't have necessarily changed a 'working' formula, but I think Nsiala can be just as effective yet more dominant at centre-back.

Wish him well though. He wanted to come and play for us twice and you have to respect someone wanting to do that as opposed to taking the easy life earning a wage for doing nothing.

Surprised that this thread hasn't attracted more comment. A real shame that our defence has been broken up, although I did think it was surprising that his loan was extended by only one month. I thought we might have tried for a permanent deal or a season long loan. Oh well!

I hope not. He's been extremely solid in defence. Think he'll be a big loss if he gets recalled :(

Confirmed, he's been recalled.

He's done well for us but perhaps this will lead to a chance to move Nsalia over to his best position and will give Paul Walker or Paul Bignot a chance against Welling. It will also help our own players develop by giving them game time. Not being disrespectful but you'd want to put a young lad like Walker in against a side like Welling, at home. Personally, I don't rate Bignot.

I'm happy to see Nsiala move to the centre as I'm not convinced he's good enough at right-back. I think Bignot is a perfectly competent performer so I reckon he'll start next game with Walker perhaps on the bench.

A pity about losing Boyce, who I rate as a defender, but that's the way things go. Deputy Doig will be finding himself back on the bench as cover now, I expect. On the other hand, as Magnay can cover a centre-half in case of injury, Doig could perhaps be left out with Walker and possibly Winfarrah there to cover the full-backs positions. As Welling are expected to be one of the weaker teams, this would perhaps give us another attacking space on the bench on Saturday.

Good commanding player in this league, but we move on with adequate replacements

In a strange sort of way I'm not disappointed, I'm actually pleased that we're going to see Toto in his natural position. I think we've got a real player there and to see him play right back seemed a bit of a waste although he played well there. I liked Boyce but he wasn't our player and I'd be happy going forward with a Pearson Toto partnership and either Bignot or Walker at full back until Aswad is back at left back with Magnay switching to right back.  :o

Sorry to see him go back to Scunny,It's a good job we have cover in that department. Would be nice to see him here again soon but on a permanent move. He's been an excellent loan signing on both his stints at our club.

I like Boyce, just hope with him going it doesn't interrupt the team to much, we don't seem to be having much luck at the minute.

on the OS now.

Would have been great to keep him as he's proved in both his spells here what a good player he is. Tbh i think he is as good as some the the players the Iron have. Scunny are within their rights to recall if they have injuries- wouldnt you expect us to do the same in the circumstances. Knowing our luck he will get in their side and impress and stay there (like Pond did)

That said i think we have enough numbers at the back to cover.

RB Walker, Magnay, Bignot, Nsiala
LB Magnay, Winfarrah (Thomas to come back)
CB Pearson, Nsiala, Doig, Humble

Will PH want to bring someone else in? I would think not unless we get injuries/suspensions.

I'm pretty sure that Magnay has stated that centre-half is his preferred position. He played pretty well there (against some big, strong forwards) in the pre-season game against Mansfield. If he is going to be able to cover that position, the question is whether the reserve full-backs we have are good enough to cover at left-back.

Shame as I think Boyce is a good player for us. Nsiala is a CB and will be fine there I imagine but we do need a RB who is a RB. Toto didn't look comfortable going forward on the wings

First choice for me:

Magnay (RB) Nsalia (CB) Pearson (CB) Thomas (LB)

We have three players who can play right back (Magnay, Walker Bignot) four centre backs (Magnay, Pearson, Doig, Nsalia), and two left backs (Magnay, Thomas) so as far as I can see, unless we have a major disaster we are adequately covered for defenders. In fact, we have a great defence and a top keeper behind them. Boyce did well but his return to the filth means our own players can progress. There is such a thing as too much competition.

No worries, we'll be fine.

Good player , but as stated he is not our player and we should be giving our players a chance to step in and win a place.
Cant say i am in favour of any team taking loan players  as some teams have 3/4 loans on the pitch at times, so you are not realy playing   ( their team )

Yes a decent player and shame he's gone.Hopefully will give us another go if the opportunity arises

Shame about that, would like to have seen him signed permenantly as he is a good defender and appears to have fitted in with the team well.

Thanks and good luck Boycey!

Good player, but blessing in disguise? Gives Toto and Pearson a chance to develop a proper partnership as long term I think they are the 2 Hurst wants in there as Boyce would've gone back eventually.
When everyone is fit I'd go;
Magnay   Pearson   Toto    Thomas

Wouldn't be surprised to see him back at some point (in a month when Pearson and Nsiala are both suspended for the same game and he's 5th choice at Scunny again!)

Is the loan window open? If not when does it open? Anyone?

All I can say is good luck to him...he's provided good cover for us in both of his stints here, acquitted himself well, so moves on with me wishing him all the best

Just strange though that he's being recalled less than a week after he re-signed for another month here....

Did Scunny suffer some injuries in defence last weekend?

Can't see anything but maybe some players reported back with a few knocks that have prompted his recall, otherwise I don't get it?

I believe they were unsuccessful in getting someone in during the transfer window, therefore had no other choice but to recall Boycie. Marlene will be pleased!

For me there's no doubt about it.
Even if I didn't have doubts about his positioning at RB before (which I did), noticed he was nowhere to be seen for Town's 2 conceded goals.
Perhaps this was a tactical need to push forward out wide (I really don't know) but with all his big strapping tackling attributes think he's far more suited to CB even if he can do a job at RB.

Completely agree, I wish Boycey well too.

I wonder if Hurst will now be looking at bringing someone in who can play both as CB and LB/RB ?

Good player, done well for town, hope he gets his chance to prove himself at scunny and in league 1, if it doesn't work out then like many have said wouldn't mind him coming back on another loan or a permanent basis. Good luck to him, I just hope he hasn't been recalled to warm the bench.

Going by the comments on Twitter he is going to be missed, and will miss us. Odd situation. On the one hand it almost feels like modern day slavery, but on the other he is obviously being handsomely paid and has no doubt had the opportunity to join Town on a permanent basis, albeit on a lower salary. So feck him!

I see Boyce is making his league debut for Scunny this afternoon at Oldham

Not often I want someone there to do well but following his efforts here, I hope for his sake hope he has a good game....and that Scunny  lose to a dodgy last minute refereeing decision :P
