Not sure to be honest... Can you not watch MOTD from abroad???  I imagine if you can't watch it because you don't have UK IP address, Expat should allow you to watch it because it gives you a UK IP address...

i'm presuming slightly, just a few interviews heard managers and player refer to Grimsby as very fit team and i recall a few new signings tweeting saying grimsby town lads are fit as intercourse... but i was referring more to use our pace when they are tired regardless of fitness. Southwells chance to shine today.

That's because it's rare for a manager to admit their mistakes... The other reason is, they can usually make changes without changing players I suppose...

Seemed to be a little premature and unnecessary to me... but it's clearly had a positive impact so credit where credit's due.

Excellent first half. S&H obviously spotted a gap in their defence, hence the switch to Southwell who is small and nippy, unlike our other strikers, although Pearson may be injured/unwell- who knows?

Aswad Thomas run shows the need for a good left winger in the squad and we have a potent weapon in Pearson from corners, who has been woefully underused since he came here, due to the lack of good delivery.

Put the ball in his vicinity from set pieces and he'll cause carnage.

Yes but its the poor ones that bother us,we need a good win at Barrow to stay in with the pack now

It is usually the poor sides that we struggle against but last year, we struggled to get any sort of results against the top sides for most of the season.

Haha, that wasn't positive in the slightest!

Why would we take a draw against a shi..te team? draws dont get promotion.

ha, well we'll have to disagree on that then. Why is it tricky? Because its a Tuesday?!?! Because they havent won in 6 games? Because we nicked their top striker this summer?  :-/
Posted by: aldi_01, September 1, 2012, 5:14pm; Reply: 171
A draw away is always a decent result. However, three points on Tuesday potentially puts us in the play off places which would be a great psychological boost. I'm not worried about forest green...we are at home and of we play anything like we did in the last home game we'll be fine.

It's pleasing to see a clean sheet away, our defence is looking the business so far and if we can grab the goals we should be up there. I think(?) we are now in a better position at this stage than last year with our 9 points and with a positive goal difference and no daft hammerings at (shudder) Braintree.

Barrow away this season is the type of game we need to win to challenge at the top. Particularly, early in the season when you want to keep up with the leading pack.

I cannot stress this enough.  A few drawn games like this and you have lost 6 points in 3 games (compared to winning).  At the end of the season this can make a massive difference.  Also, we were trying to play "catch-up" towards the end of last season.  It was too much and we did not do it.  We need a good start - or at the very least,  not to have a bad start.

This might be all elementary and no team voluntarily has a bad start.   However, the fact is that we did just that last season and it cost us at the end of the season.

What a top result our back 4 and Mckeown sounds as if they have the defence part sown up so now that leaves the rest of the team to sort them selves out   still 2 on the trot and a clean sheet can't be bad myself like many more fans are very pleased with the turn round keep it going Tuesday, utm.  ;D

I went and it wasn't a fantastic peformance anybody who says a fantastic peformance needs their head testing but it was quite good, here are my ratings how i saw it

Mckeown did the simple tasks very well didnt really have to do alot so 7
Wood, great performance full of heart and was battling, good attacking and great defending at times 8
Pearson, won almost everything in the air good striker instinct for the goal and he is such a playmaker at times 8
Pond again i think Pearson just shades it but great performance 7.5
Thomas, when mckeown copulated up it looked a ceartain goal but Thomas with a totally brilliant tackle denied them 8
Colbeck did well with running but no real end product 7
Niven, at times did some truly dreadful passes but then made up for it with some amazing moments 6.5
Disley, my man of the match, amazing play for southwells goal 9
Artus blew hot and cold at times he was so lousy in possession he lost concentration sometimes, but made up for it 6.5
cook battled hard but hes clearly low on confidence 7
Pearson no impact but got subbed due to injury 6
Subs
Southwell, full of running perhaps should of scored the open goal but good peformance 7.5 :)
Elding full of running 6.5

One thing i am concerned about is the amount of passes and long balls going astray, but we won

We went away to a team who had started well, had a 100% home record, hadnt failed to score at home and had conceeded just one goal at Edgar Street.

To go there and limit them to one shot of note, and that in the dying minutes, was a fantastic performance imo.

Performances shouldnt always be judged by winning by a cricket score against a team of no hopers or playing Barcelonaesq football!

Also the first time Hereford have been beaten at home since March, I'm realiably informed.

Fantastic win against one of the teams fancied to do very well this year.

That's a win (& clean sheet) away at Hereford, comfortable win against Mansfield, a point (& clean sheet) away at Wrexham and a decent point away at Southport. I definitely would have taken that at the start of the season.

Yeah, I agree. It's also only one defeat in six, and that was a complete fluke anyway. I think the overall picture looks brighter because of the last two results. When you look at it like that, it's astonishing what 2 results can do to the overall picture. The 2 games against Stockport and Nuneaton were awful - the performances as much as the outcomes, and I think the lesson for everyone has to be more of a sense of balance. Reactions on here are very extreme generally -  people post any old impulse without reflecting properly, or setting things into a real context.

So, after 6 games, do we look like we might be a team in contention? We are very tight-looking defensively and are not exactly struggling to score goals, but there must still be some improvement to come in our performances. Goals and victories often conceal shortcomings, just as they also over-emphasise strengths, but we are probably still lacking a really good central midfielder and a natural, good quality attacking left sided player. We could lump it less in the channels,  pass it more and we could pass it better, and, IMO, we'll need to address these points if we're to become a top 5 team and not just a top 10 team.

The one thing that complicates forecasting a season's likely outcome at this stage is that we really don't know if there are genuinely good teams in the division, and how could we? Six games isn't enough to be talking intelligently about that, and some folk should desist in their obsessions with 'working that out'. Last year there were 3 or more very effective sides. I doubt many Town fans have seen a decent team yet, which ought to give us hope. We must capitalise now though and beat these teams before they find their feet, starting with 3 more points on Tuesday.

Near the end just before he got subbed he crossed the ball the keeper caught it and he put his head down, when he got subbed he trounced off with his head down and Scott and hurst had to give him words of encouragement

Understandably Cookie would like to have scored a goal or two. It is probably playing on his mind and he is trying too hard. Needs to relax a bit. Similar thing happened last year with Hearn and he came through Ok. I hope S & H keep playing him and that he gets his first goal tonight against his old club.
