Thought i would do it early as there will be another 3/4 created by the time we get there. Can't make it tonight but think i'm going to go to Parity to watch it, i think that town will come away with 3 points as they will be won in the last 10 minutes. My suggestion for team is as follows:
GK : McKeown
LB: Townsend  CB: Miller  CB: Garner  RB: Silk
LM: Artus     CM: Disley   CM: Thanoj    RM: Coulson
                   ST: Hearn    ST: Elding

I think premier sports have got the score wrong. It should be Southport 0-2 Grimsby.

No matter what goal Anthony Elding scores in, it counts as a goal for Grimsby.

Great time to equalise, fortunate to get in level at half time level after spending so much time defending. Hopefully we can come out and play some football in the second half as we've found it difficult to do that so far.

Everyone watching it ?
I'm watching it on Premier Sports.

It's been a Southport arial bomardment with the wind that we've generally dealt with well.
That said I'd have taken 1-0, fact we've got the late goal a huge bonus !

Been pressed and haven't had time to get it down or settle.
Loads longball and we're winning little in the air.
Our best play had been on the break and down the right side.
Pearson also missed unmarked free header - glorious chance !

2nd half we've got the wind need to get it down.
Or if we're using the wind I might stick Duffy on to help hold it up.

UTM.

I'd agree with that. We barely got into their half in the first 45 minutes, which would give the impression they had better game, but IMHO we played the better football overall, plus we scored two genuine goals, Southport only managed to get on the score sheet through an own goal.

Yeah, taking nothing away from the team, great pressuring to get the ball in to Hearn. But seeing the replays of their chances, two were fluffed wide and one hit weakly at Macca. They didn't really have a striker that took the eye for all their endeavour, Hearn is so often the difference in the two sides.

1st half struggled playin into the wind, everytime we played a ball forward did it come straight back. Great to get a goal before end of the half. 2nd half i expected southport too tire with them playing tuesday and being part-time but they never did and whalley was one of the best players on the park. coulson seem to thrive playing with all that space on the right wing and the wind certainly helped our play as did attacking our own support. It was a scrappy game but a very good important victory against a good side especially from set pieces and crosses. WELL DONE GTFC UTM!!!!!!

A great away against a team above us. We were not at our best but again came from behind to win.  This is what promotion bound teams do.

The TV commentary and tweets were something else.  Grimsby fans did not expect to win the League at the first attempt.  That is lazy supposition.  It is NOT hard to get out of this league.  Lincoln might disprove that. :) Coulson was "anonymous in the first half but joint best player on the pitch in the second half".  Grimsby have NOT won ugly a lot this season.  We do NOT often concede late goals this season.  Barrow was an exception.

We were second best in the first half.  The wind was underrated for favouring Southport.  We had the wind in the second half and were the better team. More credit should have been given to having to change the CB pairing so early in a vital away game.  And we lost a sub. We were a bit rusty and this should have been acknowledged.

Liam should not have been booked for his challenge with the keeper, as was suggested.  He just fell over at speed trying to avoid the onrushing keeper.

We won because we believe we can - and often do now.

Well done town, urine poor first half with, Artus being the only real light up intill the Miller goal. I would of been happy and taken that at half time, but you have to give the lads credit they controlled the majority of that second half and credit where credit is due we wouldn't of gooten that goal had the defender not been a pratt and hoofed it clear like your tought to do at school, but well done Churchy for closing him down and taking the ball without fouling again i was plesently suprised by that thought the southport player was just going to drop to the deck.

Well done town 14 undefeated on the trot now? lets keep this up unitl may 2014  ;)

Brilliant result. Away win at a team in the top four! Incredible.

On current form we must be the best side in the BSP. No reason why we can't make the play off.

Well done guys!

How many Town supporters? Noticed the crowd was 1934, much more than they normally get so those free tickets clearly made a difference.

"I've been watching Ian Miller since he was a junior player at Bury Town almost 10 years ago, and I can re-assure you that you have done very well to get hold of him.  The last time I was able to see him play was at Wembley on May 7th last year - and on that occasion, he was waving the FA Trophy above his head.  In a month's time, you will be asking yourselves why he isn't playing league football - he has a truly professional attitude and he is a leader.  If you weren't sure about your captain - you've got one now!"

There ya go - I told you at the beginning of January that you'd got a good 'un! ;)

Interesting, they gave away 2000 tickets and only got less than 1600 home fans. Dont think they will be taking many to Wembly if they make the playoffs.

Taken from the Southports forum, some good summaries from the game then I found this...
Quoted Text

Thought it was a great game and we totally out played them for 80% of the game, closing them down and not allowing them to play.
Loads more corners and free kicks, just couldnt put them away.
Some of the quick passing was scintilating from defence and up to the area.
Mukendi I thought was great he won nearly every ball in the air and was a constant menace.
Moogan was brilliant as was Whalley, their keeper was by far the busiest.
Its the best I have seen us play this season, cant help thinking a Fearns would have had a hat trick tonight.
Akrigg and Grand were fantastic,if we play the lesser teams with that skill and effort we will be in the play offs no doubt.
After the match their supporters said we were the best they had played.
Thought the Premier pre match interviews with Charlie and Liam were very good, and showed SFC up very well.
Gutted!

Jesus H, those are some powerful rose tinted specs. Either he went home at half time or his maths is very poor.
