Just to discuss something a little different to take our minds of the current depression.

Usernames, we all have and use them. Some are obvious, some not so. If yours is one that is quite different or just basic, what was the thinking behind it.

I'll get it started. TINTOWNER..........I live in Immingham and when they started building the docks in 1907, the contractors were housed in tin houses and the area became known as tintown...hence my username.

A rubbish thread..........I'll get my coat!

Oh lawks.  Complicated.

When I first tried to join the old Fishy the first two tries yeilded that it was too close to usernames already registered so I used this one in sheer frustration. It stems from the old boys organisation from where I went to school (an obscure part of Norfolk) and I just happened to have a letter from them in my hand when trying to register.

history lessen, the Iceni tribe inhabited parts of Norfolk and revolted against the Roman empire under their queen Boudicca.Obviously a member of the tribe is known as an Icenian.

Oh and my real name isn't Ian but Michael.

Told you it was complicated. ;D

I was in the RAF.  "Situation Normal All f ucked Up" (SNAFU) was a regular catch-phrase.   Humour broke up any bad times.

I picked it for Town.  It was supposed to be ironic. Now it is so true!

The number "5" does not mean anything.  For some reason I had to add a number after the user name for it to be accepted.

Mid-90's, couple of years after stating in Business Consulting, I was sent to a couple of our client sites to assess some of the consultants that had been employed, with a brief that we needed to lose a few.
After a few sites, working with that same people, someone made the comment me turning up on site was like the Grim Reaper appearing, someone soon would be departing. Knowing I was a Grimsby fan, that quickly turned to being the GrimsbyReaper.
And it has stuck ever since, my Fishcake ID, to the Fishy ID, to my photo site, and here to Australian European car forums (2nd passion after footy), which generally leads to the usual question 'Where is Grimsby?"

Says it all I suppose I am an old footballer.

I really enjoyed it when I first came on here under another name and people were trying to work out who I was.

I have to admit it is really good fun at times on the Fishy,  alright you get a few dip sticks, but I always admire people who have opinions and put it across in a dignified manner, especially if they actually go to the games.

Yeha but everyone knows who you are  ;D

Mine because I used to play an online game called CoD2 a couple of years back, I used to play matches in online leagues etc and I was pretty good but had a tendancy to get nervous when I was the last player left alive in a particular round as everyone else on your team is watching you and talking in VoiP (ts/vent) which put me off!!!! I then had a tendancy to start shivering and missing easy shots which I of course blamed on the shivering but they never believed me so I changed nick to 'Shiver' as a bt of a joke!

Just seen in the ebay ad at the bottom of my screen a programme from the WBA vs Town game from the early 80s. Was at that game and still (like the saddo that I am) have that very programme in a box in my garage. Think we lost 3-0 to a side featuring Bryan Robson. The programme has a feature on the new executive boxes at The Hawthornes - a new development in football grounds back then!

Quoted from Garth
Garth from the Mirror was always my idea of a man that I strove to be and failed, still in the next life ;)

i like that - I sometimes forget where i am and describe my dad (a docker for many years) as having arms like Garth. Nobody here knows what the hell I'm talking about.

Mine came when the Rivals publishers all communicated on a forum, and most people used to put their team name somewhere within their name so make clear who you were if the site name didn't make it clear

If you've ever lived in the GY/Cleethorpes area, chances are you'll have seen this graffiti artist name about, somewhere.

I'm not the graffiti artist though, just needed a name to register with and this is the only one i could think of at the time.

yep,iv'e seen this "tag" all over starting way back in the 1970s,not sure i would describe his as an "artist" though mate, true graffiti art is the stuff sprayed on the wall in ainslie street park, and in the old subways in town in the 70s/80s. iv'e been into hip-hop and rap for a while now and graffiti was a big part of it,oh the memories of happier times eh?i wonder if this doc/ock guy is still alive? it would be great to meet him, what a legend. 8)

Because my name is Dave and I've got a very big tackle :)

actually its because I'm 'abit' fat but we can be whoever we want on the internet can't we?

I used to have a Town shirt (when we were sponsored by Jarvis and our shirts were made by fruit of the loom or someone), with Big Dave on the back. I stepped out of the car when we were away at Donny in the cup (Terry Flemming got sent off I seem to recall), and literally 10 seconds across the car park, some Donny fans started chanting Big Dave is a male masturbator. cheers for that

Nevermind mate 10 secs after that he was on his toes with the rest of the donny wing mirror smashers ;) Terrible night wasnt we 0-2 up as well?1mickylyons because my best mate  Mike Smith (rip) once stood on a crash barrier  possibly Oldham ?singing the above as we plummeted towards the division below to the utter astonishment of the other Town fans present .It was a priceless moment and i never thought things could get worse than under old Micky then along came another Scouser :'( :'( :'(

Rather boringly I created this just before....yes you guessed it....the millenium and dived in there before anyone else did expecting a mad rush!!!  Would like to change it to something more inventive but looks like thats an imposibility.  Maybe it's something GRIMROB can explain or sort out!!!

My surname is Brown, and as Civvy will confirm, in the military 24hour ration packs of the good old days, THE best thing out of them were the biscuits, Brown (combined with the pate of course!) My nickname was Biscuits but it got shortened to Biccys.
