McKeown (c), Hewitt, Davis, Waterfall, Gibson, Hessenthaler, Whitehouse, Clifton, Rose, Hanson, Green.

Subs: Russell, Öhman, Pollock, Robson, Cardwell, Ogbu, Starbuck.

I hope everybody is keeping their eyes peeled for any potential managers in the stands and keeping their ears open listening for rumours!

So none of our 4 creative players start? And Wright n cook not even in the squad,  presumably injured?

According to the telegraph Cook has groin strain and no additional news on Wright’s injury

Just draws into focus what a poor midfield we’ve got. I expect us to be outplayed in there. Disappointing that Wright didn’t make it.
Can’t see any creativity or source of crosses so be very surprised if we are not well beaten tonight.

About the strongest side we have at the moment, due to Wright's injury. Still so bloody stupid that we do not have 1 other wider player at the club. Not directly Limbrick's fault I suppose but If you ar Cheltenham you already know you need not worry about anything coming from the wing.
Posted by: chaos33, November 26, 2019, 7:13pm; Reply: 8
Exactly. I guess Limbrick is trying to make the best of it. I know he was cack against Newport but Robson is way better than Clifton and Whitehouse and one of our few players who looks like he could produce or finish something.

Considered ifollow, but only just completed tasks at work so choosing to sit in machine listening on the good ole wireless. Wouldn't let me listen in over Internet on phone.

Midfield 3 much of a muchness but all we got available, hopefully green and rose can peel wide and offer us some width. That's if it's 4-3-3, not sure only just tuned in.

I fully expected our performances to continue steadily improving. Limbrick competent methinks. Whether he the man to take us forward I dunno, but he saying the right things about getting back to keeping things simple and how we started the season -everything we've all been saying.

It's not rocket science, but still it needs to be implemented.

A generally decent performance from Town, but nowhere near clinical enough in and around the box. I expect more from Cheltenham in the second half so we’ll have to raise our game and take our chances if we’re to win this.

Absolutely no luck in the box tonight. Cheltenham defending to the death, throwing themselves in front of everything.

Its great to see us pressing their CBs at the top of the pitch and not at the halfway line like we have been for most of the season.

Midfield are all over the place, not giving Cheltenham a second. My only moan about them is at times when we're attacking they can be rather flat at times and not moving into the right spaces.

Really impressed this half its like its August again isn't it.

Those stats are a bit dodgy.

Aerial challenges won (%): Town 63 Cheltenham 39. 102%?

Get the ball to Akeem, he's got that centre half in his back pocket, sure to draw a foul in the box.

Good effort from Town, not enough conviction in front of goal, more hit and hope, there again Cheltenham getting in the way at every shot.

Good pressing work, keep this going we are coming out on top.

What's clear already is that the 433 we're playing, is actually 433. And not just 3 strikers picked but asking 2 to play wide and it looking like 451.

Have to say I like the way Limbrick is setting us up already and the very evident change in approach seen on Saturday and so far tonight. Obviously he's going to be judged on results but I like what he's done in a short space of time so far.

Not bad thought we edged it overall. Decent ref for a change, no major silly errors and used common sense rather than letter of the law near the end with Davis, Keep playing how we did 1st half, goals will come.

What a load of absolute BS
There are plenty of ’fresh faces’ who could and mostly would be utter failures.
If one of those had been in charge tonight there’d be plenty of posters on here saying what a promising start that was. Probably the same after Northampton.
Have you noticed that Northampton and Cheltenham are both in playoff positions? And we gave them both a bloody good game.
Give the bloke a chance FFS. 3 tough games, backs against the wall, and improvement in each one. What exactly did you expect?
‘Fans’ like you really p1ss me off. If we got a new bloke in and it didn’t work you’d be one of the first to get on his back.

Any bad run leads to a loss of confidence and in addition where town are concerned we have also been playing total crap with no evidence of a formation or style of play.

Clearly, in his 3 games in charge, it is clear Limbrick is aware of our shortcomings and has done his best to address them with the resources available. What fans are “happier” with is the fact that we are trying to play more football, are trying to keep the ball on ground more often, have square pegs in square holes and all appear to be 100% behind the Manager.

We have played two matches against sides in the play offs on good runs and have given both a reasonable game.

Are fans happy with our season to date, no, but turning it around takes time and IMO the reference to 1 point from two games means you are being over critical of Limbrick but you are fully entitled to your viewpoint. There are roots of recovery which at least gives us something to build on and maybe we might in the near future actually be worth watching once again.

I think some fans' expectations are too high.  The first goal is to stop the rot  - conceding goals and creating chances. To do this the players need to regain their confidence.  Lack of confidence doesn't happen after the loss of one game and , as a result, nor does getting it back.  I'd like to see one of the FFS brigade take over at Swindon and I expect nothing but a 4-0 win.   Somebody mentioned that it's ludicrous we have noone  replace Max out wide.  Well, we don't!  Moaning about it can't get it, can it?  AL can't nip down the dole office in the morning and ask if there's a winger who fancies a shout come Saturday.  Two good performances albeit without the best result is a promising start.  Slagging off the team will only hinder their getting their confidence back.
