Definitely a game of two halves. Looked like their manager had told them to go hard for an early goal. Several very dodgy moments at the back mostly caused by their number 11 Odoh. We weathered the storm thanks primarily to Smith, Glennon and the increasingly safe Crocombe. Second half we pushed on against some rapidly tiring Rochdale legs. The turning point for me was when Amos arrived allowing Glennon to push up. His delivery is extraordinarily good. People came on and very nearly acquired the status of super hero-only a foul (not given obviously) stopping him two yards from goal. Just as we were heading towards a nil-nil up popped Waterfall for our trade mark late winner. Even allowing for our recent history I don't remember many goals being more celebrated by the scorer. We saw out nearly eight minutes of time allowed with relative ease. Cue massive celebrations from the 1249 Town. Man of the match for me by a good distance Smith. He could prove to be Hurst's very best signing.

Quite the occurance Luke Waterfall last minute winners😂
1st half we were completely outplayed, should have been 3/4 down to be honest. Couldnt get a grip in the middle and there RB who was very very good, had Glennon toast. We made a tactical change and it sured us up until the break.
Second half we looked a much better side with Taylor holding the ball up well and us getting in good positions without really creating. Very hot day so game slowed slightly and understandably. We brought Amos and Kiernan on and we started to grow into the game more as it wore on. Pepple also came on, won the corner and from that Captain Fantastic was there again to spark joyous scenes in the away end
My mom again Andy Smith. Faultless.
Lino on the town fan stand was woeful, so far behind play.
Thats the 1st win, against what i think was a pretty decent side. UTFM. God its hot😂

Should have been 2 down in 5 minutes and 3 or 4 down by half time.
But we weren’t and we won so who cares. Great away win

First half hour not great but improved as game went on. Thought that we were really good second half and got what we deserved.
Really really impressed with the pressing in the second half. Love to see us wanting to win the ball back that high up the pitch. On another day turning the ball over that high will result in more goals.
Smith was impressive- as ever, he reads the game to a level far beyond his years.
Glennon’s delivery, again, is impressive. Said before I really rate Glennon and would like to see us maybe look at that Amos/Glennon combination down the left abit more.
From having concerns about time it’ll take us to catch up fitness wise, in really tough conditions, we seem to already look on the pace of the rest. Either that or we just have players that’ll just keep running - hardly surprising in a Hurst team.
Interested to see how they all pull up on Tuesday after the conditions today.
Oh and there’s only three things guaranteed in life; death, taxes and Luke Waterfall scoring headers!

Managed to watch bits of the game via my phone from the other side of the pond whilst attempting to entertain my two kids. Wasn’t able to give the game my undivided attention but what stood out was just how good Andy Smith was.
For a lad who looked pretty unremarkable for us in his first game for us at right back, he’s been a revelation ever since. Still only 20; he’ll make it at Championship level at the very least.

Just back home after listening to the game on the radio whilst sitting on Cleethorpes beach, it's buzzing and hot out there.
Great win and 3 points, takes any pressure off now if there was any.

Underwhelming first half, where we did well to keep Rochdale out with a couple of good blocks and last ditch tackles (one from Efete in particular). I like Wearne, but he looked a bit lost again their little winger, who had him on toast a few times. Cracking effort from Morris just before the break when he hit the bar. Couple of really soft bookings throughout the game, which could have been a nightmare, for Clifton in particular, but he did well to keep battling without ever risking a second. Heat definitely took a toll on us, and understandably so.
Even first ten of the second half, we looked knackered, but played much better football and looked dangerous on the break. Couple of half decent chances, but we were much the better team after the break i thought, and as we always do, caused a threat from set plays, which of course Waterfall took advantage of to bring home the points.
Smith fantastic, second half in particular. MOTM Morris looked effective and always busy. Holahan our best player first half. Comfortable day for Crocombe, and a decent save near the end at an angle. Glennon looks good even on one of his weaker days, and having Amos on the bench is a huge option for us. Thought PH may have left subs a little late, considering conditions, but he knows best, and brought on the right players at the right time.
Fantastic support, great atmosphere and a brilliant three points.
Safe journey home everyone
