Quite a lot of variation between bookies - e.g. you say 13/2 Salford, but you can get 9/1 at Coral...

Town are 33/1 at Coral and Ladbrokes.

Was going to pile on Stockport in the Season Points Spread on Sporting when they come out - looking at the fixed odds I think they may end up too high. Best value fixed odds looks like Northampton at 16-1.

Makes little sense for us to be such long odds compared to Stockport.

Northampton are the team to keep an eye on, recruiting well (Fox & Burge) and early in the window is always a good sign.

Our first home game this coming season, so if they're going to one of the favourites to go up, it'll give us a decent barometer to measure ourselves against.

Has Hurst ever managed a title winning team? He's been in the play offs loads of times.

Can anyone remember what the odds on us getting promoted were this time last year?

When the new owners took over I was saying that I thought we could look forward to two promotions in the next five years to get us into L1 which I think is a division we are well capable of sustaining a presence in with our fan base. I assumed it would take three years to rebuild and escape the NL and then two more years to get out of L2.

I never imagined we would actually get promoted straight away. I still think my prediction is achievable i.e. we now have four seasons to get out of L2. I would not bet against us doing that.

I like most of your posts, but this time I feel you're wrong. It won't take 4 seasons as we're on our way up at the end of this season.

Not that I can see yet, but I can't believe that Wrexham are as short as 6/5 to be champions!

Surely Wrexham will finally get their act together this season. They’re the only massive moneybags left in that league. Although below them with Notts making eye catching signings, Chesterfield with Tshimanga fit again, Southend likely to have worked out what they’re doing it isn’t going to be any easier to get out of that league this coming season. Looking at it dispassionately, it’s a good job we went up when we did.

I agree. I think next season Wrexham, Notts, Chesterfield and maybe even Solihull and also Southend will be a bit stronger than last this coming season and for one team to be as good as evens in a 24 team league is a bit mad, in my view anyway.

I suspect it will a straight fight between Wrexham and Chesterfield (assuming Tshimanga is fit) for top spot.

I am just bloody glad we are out of it.

They finished on 94 points whereas we finished on 77. Those odds seem reasonable to me.

This is EXACTLY how I see it too. Even the Southend thing. I see them as getting better and ultimately at some point getting back into the EFL, although possibly not yet. What i do NOT see, is Oldham or Sands View United challenging.

Not bothered about non league clubs, jumper for goalposts. Big fan of one up one down tops, re election where the relegated club is the only turkey voting for Christmas seems fair. Or just bin em off.

If you look at our form over the last 20 games though, we were averaging 2.05 points per game, which would have given us 90 points in the full season. So the team we finished with was closer to them in form terms than the table suggests, plus we also beat the 5th, 3rd and 2nd placed teams in the play offs. So maybe we are a little undervalued.

True. That squad doesn't exist now though as we have lost some of them - smith back to dull (probably replaced with better though in maher). Raihky and sousa as squad players have been lost. Fox is possibky the most important loss. Or maybe its our absolutely brilliant plan b pairing of Abrahams and especially mani (not that they were brilliant as individuals but as a plan b they were the best we've had in ages and transformed our ability to play without mcatee). We may have picked up a better version of one of them in danilo hopefully but that is yet to be seen.
