Just thought I'd give a big shout-out to Andy Smith. Never let us down when he's played and had a big part in our excellent end to the season. From all the loan players we've had over the past couple of seasons he's been right up there with the best of them.

Whatever Division we are in next season, I hope we can get something sorted so that he's here again.

Testament to him that when I saw this thread my initial reaction was to panic that maybe he was injured.

Totally agree - was thinking about when he came into the team at a point when we were at a pretty low ebb and that we have barely lost since! Testament to him is that he's continued to keep Shaun Pearson out of the team.

For a young , inexperienced player , he looks like he’s played  there for years and has done a magnificent job for us and arguably it’s a choice as to who partners him in the first 11 now

You'd have to say his chances of playing first team football for his club next season are likely to be limited. A season long loan would seem to be the perfect opportunity to get more experience under his belt and develop further. Better than he'd get in an 'Under-23' league. This is on the assumption he's still under contract to them next season.

Really does look a player who has had more first team football than he has.

When he came in he was right back, in a side that was struggling and in a state of transition, in the middle of the season…he’s slotted in at centre half next to waterfall and he’s been nothing short of excellent.

Credit to the lad, he never seems to moan or see his bottom either. He’s mopped up some mistakes and just goes about his business…

Doesn't complain about the lack of things to do in Gy / Meggies either.  Gets on with it.  Could go far.

Not the most physical of central defenders, but the perfect foil for Pearson or waterfall.

He’s a really intelligent defender and really quite decent with the ball. He’ll get better and I hope we are in for him on a permanent, because I’m not sure he’ll be in Hull’s plans in the championship.

He's young and no doubt still has a bit of growing to do.

Has a touch of the Ryan Bennett about him and he did
OK for himself.

Wish him well next season whether with us (preferably)
or with anyone else.

Hope we get him for next season as he is solid. Ryan Bennett has just moved back into the area  with his family as his Swansea days are over apparently. Not saying he is coming to us as I think either Hull or Lincoln may come in for him but at 32/33 years old would he get many games for either side or would he be a good acquisition for Town? Who knows?

He had to wait and got his first opportunities at RB when Efete was injured. He then had to bide his time again but since he got in at CB, he's been undroppable. Getting him again for next season would be a great bit of business.

Smith has been excellent once he got a proper run in the centre back position.

No silly frills, but always seems to have time to trap and then pass the ball, unless a forced header or block tackle is needed

If another season long loan would work for both sides, we would certainly have a good player on the books, who looks to be enjoying playing in competitive National League football this season.

The lad looks to have a good football brain and if ever made available would make a great permanent signing.

Has done very well considering he is inexperienced, remember he couldn't get a look in for Salford earlier this season. He is not flash but he's very solid and he does his job, I can't see Hull offering a contract to him and he is out of contract this summer I believe, I would like to see him signed on permanent.

He signed a new contract in January 2021 that keeps him at City until 2023, with the club holding the option of a further year.

That’s a shame, would have loved to see him back next year. Although, I understand it as he could easily play at league 2 or above currently
