Having seen them in action at Barnet last week, that is the team I would have picked.

McAtee a sub so he might get a run out to test his shoulder later in the game.

Fox in, no Jones in the squad and McAtee on the bench. Maguire-Drew an option to come on with energy for a limited time.  Should suit him at the moment.   Encouraging.

Abrahams up front to support Taylor also good.  Abrahams deserves a start.

Chesterfield losing 2 - 0 at Torquay, could be out the play offs if Daggers win.

Hopefully they don't though! I'd rather us be cemented sooner rather than later!

Chesterfield have been woeful, albeit Torquay were lucky to get their pen.

Chesterfield should have been down to 10 as the ref missed an elbow to Hall's nose which he had to be substituted for.

9 minutes of injury time - 4 now left.

FT 2-0.

I think I'd rather Chesterfield limp into the play offs than have an in form Dagenham to contend with.

I have no idea why Humberside sometimes gets replaced by a programme called Squad Goals, anyone else? Anyone got a working link? Thanks in advance

I'm hoping it's https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/live:bbc_radio_humberside

If Carlsberg did Saturday's Notts, Daggers and Boreham Wood would all lose today and we end up 5th tonight.

Coming back down to earth, I would settle for us winning and outscoring Notts to close that GD gap.

Is Waterfall part of some sort of gambling syndicate? You can't explain it can you.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Falling apart again. Waterfall having another moment of madness and losing to a nothing pub team at the lower end of the table. Discipline has gone to excrement and feels like last season.

Town never let you down.
Big crowd expecting a win and losing 2-0 to a team of painters and decorators.
Mr Waterfall with his predicted own goal and an early bath.
You couldn't write the script
Thank goodness Chesterfield lost and Dagenham are losing as well.

If Carlsberg did Saturday's Notts, Daggers and Boreham Wood would all lose today and we end up 5th tonight.

Looks like Carlsberg don't do Saturday's then.

Think Pearson is a better one on one defender but Waterfall wins everything in the air - unfortunately he also has these errors in his game, for whatever reason

Not sure one shocking game invalidates an entire season

Consecutive games. Gave away the unnecessary foul for Barnet's first last week and then scored the inexplicable own goal. Scores another inexplicable own goal this week and drags their player down last man. Self destruct from the lad

Falling apart again. Waterfall having another moment of madness and losing to a nothing pub team at the lower end of the table. Discipline has gone to excrement and feels like last season.

Undefeated in their last 6 games. Given previous results against lower level teams, a draw or defeat today was entirely possible.

He didn't have to jump all over the nearest guy seconds after scoring an own goal when his keeper had it covered again. At 0:1 down we can still recover the game so he just had to calm down but no, he gives away a penalty and gets sent off leaving us 0:2 down with 10 men. I've been one of his biggest supporters all season but he deserves a fine and to be dropped after that.

Ah well at least we'll get bumper gates against Scunny when all the coke heads who are more interested in inflatables than their team will get a day out to fight and trash everything. Scannell picked up an injury, our best player coming back to play while injured and Waterfall has pushed the self destruct button. We'll never go up so we'll be welcoming Scunny for a non league local derby for sure.

I am inclined to agree with this. Very harsh to be so against Luke after a very good season. Sounds like it (og) was a communication issue this week at least.

I have said he’s not as good as Pearson, but I am with you actually, he’s had a great season, and our destiny is still in our own hands. I can’t believe those saying the season is over, that really is silly.

Sorry but anyone complaining about people criticising Waterfall for in his last two halves of football:

- Scoring an own goal
- Scoring the exact same own goal again
- Conceding a penalty
- Getting a straight red for deliberately denying a goalscoring opportunity

is completely off their heads. The lad is almost singlehandedly trying to sabotage our season. Yes, he's been solid in earlier games, and yes he scored an equaliser last week, but persistent incompetence to this degree, at the business end of the season is almost unforgivable. Would be starting Pearson in all the rest of our games this season as there's no way I can trust Waterfall again after this (and his performances last season too don't forget).

It’s just a very Town thing to do. Dominate and completely capitulate. It’s very frustrating as this club should not be and never have been in this league.

Bad communication .  Something to work on before the play off final.  UTM!  Waterfall has played his heart out for Town this season.  He's made last ditch game saving challenges, been dominant in the air and been a threat at set pieces, with a few goals to boot.  He's had a bad day at the office.  So what?

Yes, form and confidence are important matters when selecting a team. Waterfall has none of either and therefore shouldn't be selected going forward. You need to calm it with the insults just because other posters have a different opinion to your own.

Only ourselves to blame as we should have been a couple up before Waterfall got the chance to make his blunders. Accuracy of the final pass or cross when in some great positions just wasn't good enough and this is why we're just aiming to earn a play-off place instead of pushing for automatic promotion. Another sitter missed by Clifton as well. Gets into great positions through hard work then loses his head at the crucial moment.

Plus points? Erm, Fox is playing pretty well, I suppose.

In a season of 44 games you think that Luke Waterfall has scuppered our chances? Maybe try harder

If we end up losing today that will be 5 points lost at a time when we had a real chance of 5th place. So yes, his errors in the last two games will indeed have scuppered our chances of 5th given where we were.

Out of all this mayhem and madness Fox has been fuckin brilliant.

Well we can write this match off. Probably would have been salvageable if Waterfall had just let his man go instead of hauling him down and getting sent off because they're absolutely male masturbation.

Jeez, calm down mate, it’s only an opinion.

I am not there today but I was at Barnet and he gave away an absolutely stupid free kick which they scored from and then scored a ridiculous own goal which was about the only thing on target for them in the entire second half. Hard to conclude anything other than that he cost us points against a team we should have beaten easily.

If you don’t think he had cost us points on these games, that is your perogative, We will have to agree to disagree.

Getting to the playoffs is a good achievement especially after getting relegated but I can't see us progressing we haven't got that team yet.

Waterfall's last two performances aside, ultimately our biggest problem is that our attacking players don't score anything like enough goals. We need a better return from our strike-force if we want to win more consistently next season. We've not really properly spanked anyone since Dover at home near the start of the season, even though we mainly control matches, because we convert so few of the chances we create and don't have anyone with a poaching instinct inside the area.

Bristol Rovers above the Cobblers on goals scored.  Hard on the latter who are winning 3-1 away.  Would you expect your rival to win 7-0?   Well maybe if Scunny.

Some players need to have a look at themselves poor reaction to Scanz going off, poor reaction to the OG, poor reaction to the pen and no idea on how to get themselves back into the game. Oh yeah and the complete inability to pass the ball.

Amos has been poor today

Tell ye the truth mate non of them apart from Waterfall and the keeper,
Non of them were poor, every man in a Town shirt including Amos gave everything today, can't fault any of them.
Fox was the best player on the pitch.
The Ref was absolutely abysmal.
Even at 2 down if we had 11 players on the pitch we would have won the game.

Even at 2 down if we had 11 players on the pitch we would have won the game.

Why was the ref absolutely abysmal cos he sent off Luke and gave us nothing?

Sounds like we took them for granted.

The players tried hard there is no doubting that, I thought Taylor had a poor game (he doesn’t do enough) I thought Fox was our best player, Amos and Holohan played well, too many errors today and not decisive enough, I thought Maidenhead were a poor team,

Grimsby and proud!

No, he lost control of the game and seemed to be making it as he went.
btw was you there??

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

The club got it wrong with the inflatables theme crap . Just go out and win the football match , that alone will keep the fans happy . Perhaps I'm getting too old and behind the times ?

In a perverse way, I enjoyed that second half. Pearson winding up their No. 8 to try and get him sent off was great entertainment. Their third goal was about the only decent piece of football they managed all game and that really clinched it.

Lots of effort from our players but the usual litany of poor crosses when we got into a good position meant we couldn't get close enough to them for a grandstand finish.

Bit disappointed that Holohan disappeared in the second half and JMD was poor again (and he really needs to work his nuts off this summer to get properly fit).

Capitulating at home to a pub team is the proverbial kick up the bottom Town needed.  Will help re-focus for the job in hand on Tuesday and hopefully for the play offs.

No unfortunately, was wanted to know why I do know the majority of refs are poor.  I did read earlier someone said he was losing it.

Tell ye the truth mate non of them apart from Waterfall and the keeper,
Non of them were poor, every man in a Town shirt including Amos gave everything today, can't fault any of them.
Fox was the best player on the pitch.

Even at 2 down if we had 11 players on the pitch we would have won the game.

??
Crying about the ref,dear me.
Poor performance and game management.
However move on to the next game & hopefully into the playoffs.

Bad day at the office, but all is not bad. We are still in a play off spot needing 1 point from 2 games to secure it. I'm sure Daggers and BW fans would rather be in our place than theirs, not forgetting Chesterfield who seem to have imploded..

We move on to Tuesday needing that point.

Would love it, absolutely love it, if Chesterfield end up missing out in the play offs.  They were just a fookin one man band and the wheels have well and truly fallen off that shower of shite.

excrement happens, a mad 2 minutes cost us. We will make the playoffs and not being at home won’t be a problem for us with our fantastic away support. Fingers crossed for a miracle still! 🤞🤞🤞🤞 UTM!!!!

Two minutes of madness cost us. The ref lost control and slowed the game down by constantly fussing over everything but allowing them to waste time. He also missed a blatant shirt pull on Taylor in the area in the first half. Had that been given it would have been very different.

I think Pearson’s effort to try and ref the game when he came on was possibly the only positive I can take away from this afternoon.

I would be happy with Notts County away, easy to get to, willl get a decent allocation, pressure on Notts County being the home side and we have already beaten them on their patch.

Ye we would but that was down to the keeper and Waterfall we didn't have 11 on the pitch, the ref had no option, doesn't mean to say he was any good.
The ten +the subs could not have given more than they did.
Love opinions from blokes who listen to the radio.

Again in the first half, there was a coming together of players after the ref had already given a free kick, one of their players shoved Pearson in the chest sending him flying. Should have been a red card for violent conduct.

I'd love to know what the ref kept saying to Pearson because he went through a phase of having a long conversation with him at almost every stoppage.
