Glad to see Efete back in the squad, not a dig at Cropper or anything but Efete just has that little extra we need

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

That's a pity for me as that throw is a real weapon to have in the arsenal. Let's hope Efete has a good game on his return and can last the pace.

Presumably he's rested given he's played three games in quick succession and not played before that for a long time.

My guess is he'll be rotated back in on Monday.

Have they got a quick left winger? Efete a bit quicker than Cropper from what I've seen and rotation with Cropper playing away on Monday might be an idea.

They can easily put 8 men behind the ball and leave 2 very good attackers upfront .. Only time will tell. Really hope we come out second half flying!

Sarcevic red  card and 4 players on a yellow card for County... Whereas we have 1 (Amos) on a yellow.. I'd go at them 2nd half, run at them, draw fouls in.

Well that was embarrassing, totally clueless and inept !

Even with Stockport playing with ten men we were second best !

Being out played in every department? Or just not applying ourselves and competing like we need to against a top of the league side. Mix of both maybe?

Need Jones off and Fox on and Mani up front with 2 of their defenders on yellows.

We've been absolutely awful and Stockport look like the best side in the division by a mile. Hopefully the man advantage will level it up a bit but no signs of that so far.

We may as well be playing with nine men for all Holohan and especially Jones have offered in midfield. They're both hiding, and when the ball comes to either of them they just lose or waste possession. Would have Jones off for either Fox or Maguire-Drew (w/ Clifton moving centrally) asap to actually give us a bit of bite in the middle of the park rather than whatever it is our current insipid pairing are offering.

Also 100% red card, disgraceful studs first high challenge with force. Glad we at least have a referee today who didn't bottle the decision

That's our excrement half out of the way... IF things stay as they are here's the league table below:

Chesterfield 38  24      70

Notts County 38     19     67

Grimsby 38     19     63

Dag & Red 38     23     62

Boreham Wood 36     13     59

If we can get a point today it's slightly easier on the eye as it'll mean they'll need 2 draw or a win more than us.

Biggest half time decisions and team talk for the season for Paul Hurst.
With them on a red card and 4 yellows?
What a win this would be for momentum - the rest of this season.

We've been bloody awful in the first half. Central midfield having a nightmare and we can barely string 2 passes together. Stockport look good but probably not as good as we've made them look. Very lucky to be in it and a daft challenge by their player who got the red when they were so much in control (I think Efete milked it a bit). Scannell has done well feeding off scraps. McAtee has touched the ball about 5 times.

I'd get Jones off for Fox if he's fit enough because he surely can't be worse?

Their defence looks a bit too competent for my liking and it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't lay a glove on them in the second half.

Looked off for the goal in real time but looks closer on the replay...
Looked a harsh sending off really....

However...

They are stronger, quicker , organised and technically better.

Would snap your hand off for a point right now even against 10

GET IN MCATEE!

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Pretty much bursts decision making thoughts all week before kick off.

I was there, the day Bradley Wood scored a 35 yarder!

From the black and white striped shirts
To the fish in the sea
You'll hear us singing
Coz we are Grimsby.

You won't hear us crying
But you'll hear us shout
Coz we are the Grimsby
And this is our chant.......... Grimsby! Grimsby! Grimsby!

He's got to bring Jones off

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Great win.  Another comeback from one of the league's top sides.  Proves we can beat anyone.  All we need to do now is show a ruthless streak against Kings Lynn.

Win against top of the league, nigh on 8000 crowd and Scunny getting relegated. Now this is a Good Friday, exactly why Jesus died on the cross for all our sins. 😎

We were undoubtedly helped by the sending off, but this shows that if you get in the play-offs, anything can happen and anything is possible.

Delighted with the win but I have to say we were pretty poor throughout. Great goal by McAtee, a well-worked set piece and that proved enough, despite the fact that Jones must have had one of the worst home debuts in living memory and Holohan wasn't much better.

Helped by their tactical retreat in the second half as they barely tried to attack until they fell behind and they cracked despite not being under a huge amount of pressure. Hopefully, they'll end up topping the table as I wouldn't fancy having to play them in the play-offs.

1 man team today…without McAtee who wasn’t at it best we were just an average non league team. Great result but Hurst needs to sort the midfield out because on today’s showing we are not winning the play offs.

Spot on, couldn't agree more.
Scannell mom for me.
Great results, can't wait for Monday to come UTM

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Sat in my hospital bed following the game.

It always makes me laugh when we fall behind and all the negative comments come out.

Then we score and we are suddenly brilliant .

Must admit the first half we were poor but the sending off changed the game.

Stockport will go up as champions and if we can get our form together like at chesterfield and the 2nd half today we have a very good chance of going up via the play offs.

Keep the faith.

Well that was embarrassing, totally clueless and inept !

Even with Stockport playing with ten men we were second best !

Anybody planning on a London weekend for the play-off final, save your money.

I can’t believe the negative comments aimed at Town, we’ve just beat top of the table Stockport who haven’t lost a league game in 2022, it sounded to me that Town played with grit and pushed forward
(especially the second half) surely that’s the important part at this time of the season, when we are not at our best but still win then that’s a good sign surely ?  I really thought we’d get a draw at best today so to get that very important win is fantastic.

We’ve still got a lot to do but our recent record going into the business end of the season surely puts us in a strong position now.

Think it's possible to both be delighted with the result and simultaneously critical of Jones, who really did have a terrible game. Thought Scannell was brilliant all match, and Holohan certainly improved his performance in the second half. We benefited hugely from Challinor's dumb decision to take Quigley off as he was the man causing all the problems, but very glad he did.

Spot on. Taking Harry off and leaving Corporal Jones on when he had run out of gas and reduced to waving his arms and pointing seemed bizarre. Really hope he is 'rested' on Monday and that Mani gets more than his derisory 5 min. Taylors's work was done once we were ahead. He is not the best at defending from the front.

In my opinion both Clifton and Jones should have been replaced as Clifton was not in the game at all and wasted a good opportunity to deliver a dangerous ball in at the far post early in the second half and on occasions his not having a good left peg does impact negatively on our attacking options. Jones was very poor today, but in his favour he never stopped wanting the ball despite never passing it on to a team mate, and I think a return for Fox is likely for Kings Lynn.

Defensively we did ok throughout the match although distribution was not quite at its best first half. Think the football gods paid us back for the undeserved losses to Notts County and Chesterfield as we won without being anywhere near our best. Scannell and McD on either side looked a very good combination and I would probably start with that on Monday and also give Taylor a rest as well. However, Sousa and Wright may also be an off the wall option that would give us real pace outwide to hopefully open them up and create more goal scoring chances.

Torquay also having a very good run of form and we all now how that pillock Johnson has a habit of pissing on our parade so hoping that by next Saturday we can get the two wins needed to really cement our play off position.
