Oh ffs. Bad result tonight and one we could ill afford, but turning around a team from more or less scratch in probably the strongest non-league division of all time is no small task.
I can’t be arsed to rake over the coals of the rights and wrongs of last season, but we’re about par for the season I’d say.
We’d have had a much better chance of the play-offs had we won tonight, but it hasn’t disappeared entirely. Another big game on Saturday. No need for melodrama.
He’s been shite and/or came up short everywhere he’s been. 6 years to take Grimsby Town out the conference is far too long. He got there in the end but that’s not even success for me but bare minimum at best. Best time was at Shrewsbury but couldn’t finish the job. Totally flopped at Ipswich Totally flopped at Scunny Got us relegated Start of another 6 years in the conference The guy is a failure of a manager and we are stuck with him

Too much squad rotation does me head in you never get consistency when u keep making changes, some are forced but wrong team for me. JMD should be on the bench then come on but who'd be a manager aye. Disappointed but we go again.

God this is so disappointing. Another season losing to sides who can't even muster 100 fans away from home, play at excrement home grounds and have only non league history. I still hope against hope we can get in the playoffs and win them. If we don't our owners need to have a long look at things on the pitch rather than off it and look at what the top sides are doing in this league and sort out a model closer to that.
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

So the Hurst out mob will spend the time until we win again self gratifying each other, we’re all disappointed with tonight’s result but after the decline in the last few seasons and the mess Runaway made anyone who expected us to come straight back up clearly believed the PO final is played on fantasy island.
You build a side to get promoted and that’s the process we’re in now.

With six play off spots available and over seeing a team with parachute payments and very good attendances for this level then anything less than a play off spot is not acceptable.

I don't agree entirely and I think it's a myth used by people who want to try and defend Hurst's record. Good managers get out of this league quickly. Challinor took over a side languishing just outside the play offs and they're now running away with the league. The Cowleys took over a Lincoln side that had just finished 13th and got them to champions in one season. Gary Johnson took over at Cheltenham in the March before they went down but took them back up as champions immediately. Christ, Ian Evatt only took two seasons to get Barrow(!!!) promoted..

Just read that Kyle Hudlin is the tallest outfield player in Britain (6ft 9 in’s) - not a bad option to bring on. Presumably Waterfall, Pearson and Smith too small to deal with this threat?
