Grimsby Town XI: Crocombe; Smith, Waterfall, Pearson, Amos; Fox, Coke; Maguire-Drew, McAtee, Sousa; Taylor.

Substitutes: Longe-King, Burgess, Khouri, Wright, Grant.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

New signings in that the deep end and a change in formation by the look of it. Crookes out the squad and no Scannell again.

Hope it works.

Chaos33 to storm the pitch mid-match and remove his top to reveal a life-size picture of Adam Crookes’ face tattooed on his chest, before confronting PH and demanding to know why he’s been dropped.

Scannell is seemingly making a habit of being the 17th player. Obviously not rated highly enough by Hurst, and yet his interview the other day it was asked if Scannell was going out on loan and he said it wasnt something that was on the horizon (or words to that effect). The onus is on the player, but if he doesnt want to go out on loan, then the club cant force him. Hes only got 5 months left on his contract hasnt he?

Their keeper is a little on the portly side. Hopefully we blast a few in to test his reflexes

Managed to test the keeper just need a goal now. Altrincham not come to play and just trying to time waste and chance it. If the game drags on worrying they could get a set piece or a corner late on and score.

What a terrible game of football

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

This has not been pretty. When we get a decent spell going, one of their players goes down to disrupt the game. The officials are terrible. Missed corner, nearly missed throw in by linesman and ref has no concept of time or who had the ball before he decides to blow for the keeper of one of their players going down.
We need to score early in the second half to stop the time wasting.

Baldrick ! The only impression you can do is that of a man with no talent !!

Playing well but still missing that spark in and around the box I think. Feels much like 2nd half home to Halifax, they are allowing us to play but final ball too often not quite good enough.

We should have scored by now tbh. Their players throwing themselves to the floor when the ball comes in their box isn't helping but we had a couple of chances we should have scored from.

We've dominated possession without doing enough with the ball. Still, a few good chances created. Fox headed over from a good cross, perhaps a bit high. Taylor had a shot smothered close range, but Waterfall probably should have scored from his header. Great reflex save, mind.

The referee and his linesman have been bloody rubbish, to the extent that the referee doesn't appear to understand the laws of the game. We were in possession and about to have a shot when the referee stopped play after their keeper and defender had collided. He gave them an uncontested drop ball. Their only real chance came after he obstructed Fox - I think the ball even hit the ref. Played on and they had a chance. I thought the laws stated that should have been our possession. The fact that 1 minute stoppage was added was a joke given the amount of time wasting and feigning of injury they were up to.

Another game where we're going to have to beat both the opposition and the officials.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

A good win and 9th in the table. 3 points off play off's and a place there for us to go for promotion. Positive and optimistic, going up.

New lads were excellent as were the most of the team. Alty and the ref made it a very disjointed game but we dominated and everyone put a shift in. Cracking goals and I can see us pushing on again now. UTM!!

Both newbies look steady in defence, positive going forward and have good delivery
Smith has good touch and precise passes and some of Amos’s first time crosses looked very dangerous

Very good goals, lots of possession against a poor side who didn't look like they wanted to play at all. Fat, lazy Sunday league goalie who kept falling over at every opportunity because the ref will give him the ball back when he does it, looks like he probably goes for a curry and pint after games  . Officials some of the worst all season didn't have a clue how to handle anything.

I had to laugh at Hursty when he commented on Andy Smith's passes always going to a team mate - whatever next??

Pearson making a 70 yard run up the pitch?.........oh, hang on.... ??
