Interesting interview with JT before today’s game. As always Jason came across really well. It did concern me that he referred to some personal criticism he’s received on social media particularly after the Chesterfield defeat. I hope he realises that there has always been a minority who are quick to criticise anything to do with the club (saw on article about town fans turning on Shankly on Twitter this week!). I’m sure he’s thick skinned but would hate for it to change his outlook on how long he wants to be involved with the project. If he wants to use the football clubs to rejuvenate the town his biggest challenge is changing people’s mentality.

I alluded to this at the time it happened. If you are out there as a club owner on Social Network, you are going to get criticised when you say certain things.

I think it was his view on the game if I recall correctly.

Things are great when things are going well. But owners will be a target when things aren’t. Sadly that’s how it often goes

If it was me that was an owner, I think I’d keep a low profile. But each to their own I suppose

On the whole, I think he comes across very well in interviews though

The communication has been far superior to the previous regime and Jason’s Twitter posts have been a big part of that. It would be a shame to lose that over a small number of people who are incapable of using social media for anything other than being abusive. Look at the farcical communication coming out of the club 12 months ago and you can see how far we have come.

Just a thought how many would have attended today's game if fenty  was still in charge.

5,000+ after one win in ten and on TV.

Well done Jason and Andrew the fans are behind you.

Your old boss certainly didn’t take your approach…

Still, everyone’s aware of criticism in these roles, it’s the at to react and respond. Some choose to subtly and logically speak with local media, other choose to lament about the damage caused to their car that is well beyond the realms of obtaining by most or sitting on the edge of a snooker table in a fine cashmere number…

Don’t want to urine on your chips Pete, but the home gate has gone down from 6200 against Notts County to less than 4700 today and we’ve only had two home games (Southend and Chesterfield) in between.

Being on TV + people isolating due to COVID wouldn't have anything to do with this would it?

May well have done. Just pointing out a fact. There was still a decent turnout for Southend which was also televised.

My brother was missing because of illness. My Brother in Law was missing having been hospitalised and I was wavering 50/50 because I am just recovering from illness. That's two/almost three just in our smallish group of 6 regulars.

I don't think you appreciate how many people have to work on a Bank Holiday including season ticket holders.
I buy my season ticket to support the club knowing I will miss games especially midweek ones, I believe there are others who do the same.

I noticed the same in the Upper, though it was quite entertaining near the end when we had hand bags between a couple of Town “supporters” in the first block.

Re the interview it confirmed what I thought …….. we’re in safe hands owned by 2 blokes who are massive Town fans and have the best interests of the club at heart on and off the pitch.

They’ve also recognised the need to add numbers to the board room which is in my view the best way to move us forward.

I would counter that by saying New Years Day bank holiday, no home game for a while, one would expect a much bigger crowd.

I would add that it wasn't a surprise to me that the crowd would be lower considering the run we have been on.

I’m a ST holder and I missed my second home game of the season today, the other being Southend because I was working US west coast hours at the time (oh the joys of the post-Covid world).

It’s a 160 mile round trip for me, which I usually tie in with bringing the wife and kids to see family. With the kids back and school tomorrow and needing to catch-up on ignored festive period emails, I elected to watch on telly instead.

Would I have made more of an effort and been prepared to take more ear ache from the missus had we still been pushing hard at the top of the table? Or if it hadn’t been on telly? Honest answer; probably. But all of those factors play a part.

There’s always a balance to be had between football, family and work. It’s only natural that we push the limits further for the former when all is rosy.

Anyway, enjoyed the interview, Stockwood speaks well as usual.

I do get the hump with Tondeur effectively painting the fans as unrealistic, impatient and always just on the club’s case for more money/players when it’s him & Humberside who ask Hurst every single interview, without fail, if he’s going to sign another striker. Tondeur alludes to it nearly every match and I think it was after Chesterfield, just bluntly said to Hurst that he needed a new forward, or something to that effect.

It’s the same in the Telegraph, making snide comments then hiding behind “some fans are asking…”. Think I’ve heard Hurst on 4 or 5 occasions now explain to Tondeur & mates that it’s not *that* simple, but they keep it up. So to then act like they’re nothing to do with the problem & point the finger at these “certain sections” of the fanbase is a bit galling.

I don’t think our fans are any more or less unrealistic than those of other clubs. If anything, we’re more passionate so our expectation levels do get out of kilter but I’m pretty sure that Jason and Andrew understand that without JT’s input.

First class interview. No questions dodged and honest answers to all. I liked his point at the end where he stated that compared to most businesses you can control things but with Football we are driven by results and these are pretty difficult to control. In other businesses you certainly do not have full control but you have a bit more control than you do in football and usually a bit longer to act
