I wish I was making it up. But what would be my motivation for that? It did happen and it was in a large hospital, not in the middle of nowhere. And there were people waiting that had it much worse.

Because it’s a well established and done-to-death method of attacking the nhs without being seen to attack doctors and nurses. It’s never nurses that are the problem, it’s always “middle managers”, “back room staff”, “unnecessary admin” that are the problems. All things/people that you can never put a face to, conveniently.

This has been the line for as long as I can remember from people ideologically driven to moving towards an insurance based healthcare system and greater private (ie profit seeking) involvement, and then parroted uncritically from those who swallow it.

As for the myth of private sector efficiency, see how you get on trying to claim for a couple of hundred quid for car damage. Then imagine that for hundreds of thousands of pounds of medical expenses. See how much admin’s involved there.

Funny how last week most Premier matches were off due to Covid yet hardly any Trophy games. This week Premier matches on but most lower games off - slightly confused. Are Covid results being manipulated to suit ? Have the rich clubs discovered a cure for Covid ?

Maybe stricter testing regimes in the PL identifying outbreaks earlier and they have now overcome the isolation period.
Lower leagues less testing & slower to identify cases so possibly these outbreaks are appearing this week.
Or maybe as you say, a conspiracy theory??

Edit: two PL games now postponed.

There are 2 games already off in The Prem on Boxing Day and I wouldn't be surprised to see more cancelled before (or even on) the day.
