Grimsby Town: Crocombe; Sears, Longe-King, Towler, Crookes; Scannell, Hunt, Fox, Revan; John-Lewis, Bell.

Substitutes: McKeown, Grant, Wright, Braithwaite.

GTFC only able to name four substitutes today.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Considering the way some folk have been going on this week I thought Terry hall and moira would’ve been starting up top…

It's not worth opening the red wine for this match, never mind the Guinness.

Best sound will be the final whistle, a victory or not is immaterial. The only reason we didn't withdraw, I presume, is so that it's another McAtee game gone.

Was never interested before, not interested now to be honest.
Proper non event.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Never had any interest in the trophy. Still don’t. Just hoping that those who play recover form, confidence, fitness. Grant should be given 45 mins for me. Couldn’t give a toss about the score, and I’d like to see Stockport have enough players sent off to see it abandoned.

A good performance and win today would be a big positive all round. I don’t get the apathy about the competition, especially seeing as we’re playing a club like Stockport

We need to win.  No ifs or buts or whatever the trophy.  The club need a to get back to the winning ways.  A loss mentality running through the club is not good.

1-0 game over now let's get out of there and concentrate on the league.

Let's embed that losing mentality.  The longer it goes on, the harder it will be to get out out of it.

What's ever happened with Hunt it changed him to when he arrived. Doesn't seem to have anything he had when he came and appears to be playing out his time till his return to Wednesday.

Somethings definitely happened behind closed doors. Maybe it was a false positive at the start of the season but this current form is shocking

Got to say, Fox and Hunt have regressed, I'm not sure what's  happening but something's wrong, deeply wrong.
I mentioned those 2 because, to me, they looked a class above early doors and now looking more akin to NLS.

A lot of players go downhill when they come here. Don't know why but they either get injured in training or lose their flair. Is it the  none playing members of GTFC who cause this with pisspoor tactics, team selections and players playing out of position. I am normally supportive of Hurst but have been very downbeat recently

Can’t say I’m surprised to be trailing by 2. As soon as I saw their lineup with the likes of Sarcevic, Madden etc I knew we didn’t have a chance. Especially seen as we can’t even name a full squad.

Can’t say I’m bothered. Getting out this competition would be a blessing, especially given covid cases rising and inevitable fixture pile ups.

Regardless of the competition or the fact the squad has been decimated, there's still 11 professional players on that pitch, some with experience well above this league, yet we sound awful.
Our poor run and lack of cohesion has 1 common denominator, Hurst!.
Any manger, at any level would be either shown the door after a run of losing 8 out of 9.
Is it time to sack Hurst and give another manager the January window to turn is around!??..there's only 1 name that springs straight to mind and that's Anthony Limbrick, is he capable of turning this shitshow around, right now I'm bit sure pep could!!..

Hurst does have problems with staff, 4 subs. One's a youth, one's a keeper and 2 haven't played for yonks. I'm not defending Hurst because the team are playing as he set it up. Let's not forget sick note has started his first game this year and theirs only 13 days of the year left!

Hurst out, not yet but we need a lot of improvement and quick.

In fairness, based on today’s respective lineups their side is far superior to ours on paper. I don’t think it should come as any major surprise we’re being comfortably beaten.

It’s more a case of how this tots up on top of 8 defeats in 9 in the run-up. However you spin it, 9 defeats out of 10 isn’t a good look, and you can’t deny that Hurst’s managerial career is hanging in the balance.

I said the same a month ago. It's inconceivable that our form has taken this turn unless the players have downed tools for some reason. If it was one bad apple Hurst would have dealt with it so it has to be much more than that

It isn't, but I'm only at the 8 defeats out of 9 personally. The circumstances surrounding this one means its completely chalked off for me, and doesn't count towards the wider context.

The wider context is still, however, not good enough and very concerning.

We are a laughing stock at this point. The players seem to be doing their best to twist the knife and humiliate the fans who often travel in large numbers wasting time and money to see them play.

Just has the feeling of a team in meltdown, feel it was the right decision not to bother going today (stuff you all the red crossers when I said I changed my mind on another thread), saved £20. And as I type 3-0

This team is getting to be like the one Hurst inherited last new year. Not quite as bad but trying hard to emulate them. No attack, no midfield, and no hope. You would have expected more from LJL as captain but his actions just sum up the attitude in the town camp, no leadership.

Concentrate on the Non -League , best decision for us.
We don't need the distraction and we don't have the squad to cope with extra games in the schedule.

Not bothered about losing this at all.

Something amiss in the camp, it seems nobody wants to play for the management, 12 games in and we were sure champions in our mind. Even Hurstys interview on this game was so depressing, but we,ll never know . Meltdown on here later i guess, but does seem strange that our gameplay has ceased

Just feel sorry for Crocombe, reserved better than this. Hopefully when Hurst finally felicitations off and somehow get a job in the 10th tier he will take some of his crap signings with him. Makes the idiot Holloway's team look good.

Crumbling like a rich tea biscuit...

The worst part of this is the way our shower of sh1te is rolling over to that thug's (Dave Challinor) side.  For the younger viewers I refer to his fookin disgraceful challenge against the extremely talented Swedish striker Martin Pringle on 26th Feb 2002, which effectively ended his career.

Wholesale changes need to be made

Yeah we know we are down to the bare bones but these are supposed to be professional footballers, unacceptable.

And we were shite before the sending off.

This form is completely unacceptable though, this game is turning into an embarrassment, but the wider run is humiliating.

Anyone know what the worst ten game sequence in the history of the club is, could this be it?

Get your bags packed.
Hope you've bought the directors a Xmas present, I'm sure they've got one for you.
From hero to zero in 10 games. You are only as good as your last 6 matches and we could not be worse.
Boreham Wood and Halifax must be licking their lips at the prospect of 3 easy points.
King Lynn won't be too worried either.

In fairness, as bad as this is, Hurst isn’t getting sacked on the back of an FA Trophy game with a Covid-hit squad. A similar result on Tuesday however, and you have to start asking the question.

I cannot remember such a bad run of results.

Not even under that terrible relegation season with Woods.

In fairness, as bad as this is, Hurst isn’t getting sacked on the back of an FA Trophy game with a Covid-hit squad. A similar result on Tuesday however, and you have to start asking the question.

Forget the big fish in a small pond mentality, I would not be surprised if Boreham give us a footballing lesson on Tuesday. I expect that the Kings lynn game will be Hursts last if we lose

It's not the result that has shocked me it's the manner of it.

It's not just this game though, it's all the rest of the defeats as well. The BIG problem is who do you replace him with as JS & AP are not football men, neither has Debbie much experience either. So they will probably employ a consultant!!!!!!!!!

I would say results obviously matter, only a fool would say they don't, but to improve the infrastructure of the club and match day experience was a must.
What I would say is that without the improvements at BP we wouldn't have the huge resurgence of the fans
As for improvements at cheapside, those too were essential and should filter down to improved performances and hopefully attract a better calibre of player.

But it wasn't Hurst that took us down...

I don't understand why we played this game. Clearly we have a covid card to get out of it. I know it gets 1 game of McAtee's ban, but surely we now have to play on Tuesday with a decimated squad and the break would have bought us some time.

Is that why home attendances dropped from 6500 to 5000 from the Notts County game to the Chesterfield game?

It's clear to me that something happened in the changing rooms or talks or slating with players.

I really don't know another team that started that well and then capitulated with no reason any fan knows of.

Even the discipline is out the window.

I can't see how the manager can turn this shambles around plus am pretty sure some of the loanees won't want to stay.

First real attempt on goal 82nd min according to their report.   205 Town fans had ironic cheers.

I forecast 5-0 on another thread.  Nearly as bad.   Tues game needs to be off again for our sanity.

I think many posted mid week that the Kings Lynn game will be the decider if we don't chalk up a win against Boreham Wood or Halifax. The problem is and has been every week lately that the team bus turns up, but the team don't.

I don't think anyone really has an issue with losing today, it's the fact that we are getting increasingly uncompetitive as every game goes on. The first couple of defeats were close games that didn't go our way, then we started to deserve to lose games, now we are getting completely outplayed. Confidence has plummeted, in the squad and in the stands. Probably in the boardroom too.

What Hurst needs to do is get all the fit lads giving a positive test to get all games postponed until the new year.

Then spend some bloody money and get some decent players in that want to play for him.

The chairman will not sack him until the end of the season at the earliest so let's hope he can turns things round with a few new players.

If not the gates will drop below 3,000 and we will be back to having no money and scraping the barrel for players again.

Merry Christmas everybody I am off to lock myself in a dark room where I can not get any football or cricket scores until the new year.

Attendances may drop below 3,000 but season tickets are far more than this so the revenue is already in. Only match day sales may be less which still could be 1,000 +

Kind of irrelevant what season ticket sales are this season. We had a slight increase after the board room change and a big increase with the start we had. That's all meaningless if we're back to 4k gates next season.

I'm used to GTFC being shit, but I've never known us go from being good to shit so sharply. It's weird.

Every player that I have seen this season wants to win and runs their guts out - no dispute. They have the skill that they had at the start of the season - no dispute. What has altered ?  The players have to play the way they are told by Hurst - no dispute. The tactics are chosen by Hurst - no dispute. The team is picked by Hurst - no dispute. Substitutes are made by Hurst - no dispute. Who is supposed to gee the players up - Hurst - no dispute.  Who's fcking fault is it - NO DISPUTE.

You could easily get a game never mind a seat mate and lets face it you couldn't do more than some of them at the moment in fact you could end up as MOM if you have a shot on goal

Completely disagree. Manager responsible up to a point. You cannot give the players no criticism on this. They’ve shown themselves to be weak

but the manager signed these players. So who is to blame for choosing the weak players?

Look what Boston Utd  have done to Kidderminster , puts in perspective our position at present.

Boston lost to Kidderminster last week in the league. Keith Lowe was an absolute donkey for Kidderminster yesterday but Boston are well organised.

I'm still willing to give Hurst a bit more time to sort this mess out but Craig Elliott is someone I think deserves the opportunity to test himself at the next level.
