The GTFC article below got me thinking, do fans still buy football programmes ?

I'm sure "The Mariner" is very good but I must admit I haven't bought one in years, there's that much stuff available now on social media, Youtube etc I haven't felt the need.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

My lads are 6 and 8. Both absolutely love a programme and part of attending a game is getting them one.

I do and I believe an average of 800 still buy the Mariner per game. I know a fair few collectors though who wouldn't dream of buying the recent stuff, preferring instead to fill in the gaps from the 50s/60s in their collections.
The Mariner is a class act but all modern programmes are bulky which makes them more difficult to store as opposed to ther collector hobbies.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

Since 1990 I’ve only bought the Wembley ones.

I still collect programmes, like barralad said 50's & 60's programmes are sought after by collector's me included.

I used Covid to catalogue my collection which is closing in on the 1500 mark

Strangely enough, I stopped buying programs years ago, but this season I have started to buy one every game. There's even a picture of me receiving a scarf from Debbie in the Wrexham program! I find the article about the formative years of GTFC fascinating, as well as the columns from our new owners. It's a good read.

Never have bought them, I get why people like them and collect them but it’s not for me…

I have the ones from the first two Wembley visits but that’s it…

Can't beat a good read of the programme pre-match. I buy one most games, bring it home and the kids spend the week going through it, putting the player of the weeks poster on the fridge, doing the little challenges inside etc. Not sure how long the physical programme will last, but its not dead yet.

I used to get a programme for every game i went to.  I have a few boxes of them.

But i have other collecting hobbies and i simply dont have to space to store them these days so havent really bought them since the 90s.

I know we live in an age where things are online etc but its still nice to have something physical to flick through and they are a nice momento of the event. I hope they continue.
