There's a few things I like about the States; paying $12 for a Miller Lite isn't one of them.

Then don't pay it, it tastes like knat's urine

Oh, I don't. Instead I usually end up paying $16 for a Lagunitas or Sierra Nevada. The beer tastes better but I still slightly resent the price.

My favourite Armenian (Mini Kabob) in LA (well, Glendale) hasn’t survived the pandemic. It only had 3 tables. I once spent the whole meal trying to explain to the owner’s son the English football pyramid and why I supported a team in the fourth tier.

Even down to re-creating Nathan Arnold’s play-off clincher out of hummus and chicken thigh shish (the chicken took the sting out of Hoban’s blocked falafel shot).

There’s loads of good quality, cheap Armenian hole-in-the-walls in Glendale and Little Armenia.

Although you can’t go to LA without going to In-N-Out Burger.

Surely you used an olive for the ball. Or was the falafel Hoban?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

It was a Fenty-era misshapen falafel ball. Olives are too spherical. You know that.

Hoban was the chewed up flatbread.

My cousins live there.  We could get them to start up an LA branch.  They're half Iranian though and only been to Gy once.  Her old man studied at Gy college and he loved the place , so he would be up for it.

Genuine question - do people call it Iranian food nowadays, or is it still ok to describe it as Persian?

That's a great shout on the Negra Model actually. Had a holiday in Cancun shortly before the world shat its pants and that was one of the two 'house beers' available and it was excellent. Never had it before or since, but it was very nice.

That description of how the World reacted made me laugh somewhat!

As for LA, never been personally, but I recently went to the Parkway cinema in Cleethorpes to watch a one-off enhanced showing of The Doors playing at the Hollywood Bowl in 1968. I googled the venue and wow, what an incredible music venue that must be - 18,000 seat outdoor amphitheater, it looks amazing. Any decent bands playing here, definitely go for it I reckon, Sutton.
