Our friend at Bradford, Ryan Sparks, is in the news again.
I have to say, I agree with him.

Somehow I don’t think an extra coach trip is going to bankrupt them, unfortunately. So he may want to dry his tears.

Clicked on this hoping Sparks was a 19 year old Middlesbrough striker we'd signed on loan, rather than a club official I'd never heard of.

I don’t. They are re-running the match as it should have been played and where it was played.

The officials at the game should be made to pay the additional expenses for all clubs for being so incompetent.

That’ll work well. Next time they’re looking for recruits.

I prefer the approach UEFA took when Stuttgart fielded an ineligible player against Leeds in the European Cup in the early 90s. They had to replay the game in a virtually empty Nou Camp (for reasons unknown). Carl Shutt scored the decider in that match, and about 20 years later I bought a holiday to the Dominican Republic from him while he was working at the Meadowhall branch of Thomas Cook. Good mates with Ian Knight. https://youtu.be/Ims6qb6gUdQ

The original game is null and void but the red card isn't.

Setting up the 'Battle of Britain' if I recall rightly. Amazing to think that the Champions of England were beaten 4-2 over two legs by their Scottish equivalents.

Might get some better ones if they screen them better... Can you read a rule book? Can you count to 5? Would be a starting point.

Law book, although in this instance, perhaps a review of the FA cup rules would’ve been helpful…

Yeah. Like there’s thousands of capable people waiting in the wings to become match officials, happy to take on the risk of personal liability for any mistakes that they make. The whole frigging point is there is a shortage of competent people wanting to be officials.
