Done all the others but you can't beat the view from the Upper, one of the best views in football.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Obviously over all the decades I have been going I have been in all the stands, sometimes for years at a stretch.

Stated off in the kids section by the side of the Barretts stand and then the Barretts stand for a good few years. In that stand I saw us hammer Scunthorpe 7-1 and the greatest game at BP IMO the 2-2 draw in the League cup quarter-final in 1965 against a great West Ham side.

Then moved to the Main stand as a teenager to be near my best mate and his family. In that stand I saw the 1971 promotion campaign which I don't think has been surpassed yet in terms of the excitement, the incredible crowds  (23,000 plus for the final game v Exeter) and the sheer joy.

I then moved to the Osmond to see Drinkell and Whymark and co. and the great Booth /Kerr sides.

Years ago I found myself in the Pontoon which is where I still reside. You obviously don't get as good a view of the overall pattern of the game behind the goal, but the feeling when we score an important goal is something else.

The Buckley years, the Tottenham win and the Fenty disasters have all been witnessed from the Pontoon.

The bottom line is that it doesn't really matter what stand you are in, as long as we are winning!

Started in the old Barratt boys paddock , then moved onto the Pontoon in my middle to late teens. Moved into the Upper when that came along and then back to the Pontoon again for a few seasons. When my eyesight got too bad as I aged and I couldn't see the far end of the pitch too well, I decided I needed to be nearer the halfway line. Tried the Main stand but couldn't get on with it, especially with a low sun in your eyes, so went back to the Upper where I will probably now remain until I die or we get a new ground. My money in on the former.

On Friday, I am going in the Osmond for a change. Used to go in there when you could change ends at half time years ago, but haven't been in there for a first team game in decades.

In the days before segregation it used to be in the first half standing behind the goal in the Osmond in as we always kick that way then in the second half the long gone terrace in the open corner between Pontoon and main. Then there was chaos in the Pontoon in the Mcmenemy championship season as an older youth. Then standing in the Barrett’s in the George Kerr/ Booth era. Then 30 years in the Upper Findus moving only once after several years of incessant moaning from the row behind. Intolerable.

Started going mid 70s with my grandad in the cons corner but if it rained we’d go in the Barrett’s but over the years prefer the main stand

Don’t go often enough to have a favourite. In the 70s always used to go in the Barrett. 80s lower Findus. 90s Upper Findus. Been just about everywhere since apart from the Osmond, depending on mood, availability and how cold it it.

Our family always met in the Harrington Street corner, or in the Barret if the weather was bad. I prefer the view from the upper Smith's now, with the bonus of being able to watch the shipping if it is a poor game

Started off in the Barrett Stand as a youngster the season before St Lawrie took over. Moved to the Main as a teenager so I could stand behind home dugout, talk to the players and collect autographs. Switched to Pontoon in the early 80s, and have been there ever since other than the enforced Osmond years. Been in the Upper a couple of times for friendlies etc but never been in Lower, the only one I haven’t tried yet.

Started in the open corner between the pontoon and Barrett's but when the snow was too much used to move into the Barrett's. Then spent a few years in the main stand and then a few in the pontoon before I moved from the area for a few years (used to attend BP matches when I was here and those away games which were need to where I was).

Over the last 10 years have been in the Upper Youngs which gives a good few of the pitch.

Interesting that upper is the winner so far…

Personally, I hate it up there, feels detached and I’m not a fan of the view. Each to their own though.

I’ve sat in all the stands at some point but only ever had my ST in lower findus.

A colleague has been attending games this year with her daughter, they’ve tried all the stands and have plumped for ST in lower findus.

Weird though isn’t it, don’t sit behind the goal at home games but much prefer it for away games…

Pontoon mainly, that was my first stand I went in the 70’s, the atmosphere back then was fantastic.

Upper Smiths/Youngs/Stones (whatever it's called at the time)

I used to have a season ticket in The Pontoon when it was standing and had one in there the first season it was all seated but the view is not brilliant so thought I'd try the Upper and have been there ever since.

If the game gets a bit boring you can always watch the ships!

I''ve got quite good at ship watching the last few seasons.

Sat on the ashtrack in front of the main stand as a nipper. Then the good old Barratts Stand, then to the Pontoon for many years with the ocasional visit to the Harrington St Corner, till eventually the Upper. The  best atmosphere was for the year we were moved to the Osmond Stand, Incredibly loud in there, never been beaten.

With regards to the wording of the question..., is there a good reason why we, as Town supporters, almost always seem to consider the Lower and Upper as two separate stands? It is a single stand with 2 tiers.

Completely different experience given how much higher the Upper is with the hospitality area in between.
