Every week, before match day, the club should release a list of the players available to play in the next match.
Also, the club should explain why those players not available to play - are not available to play.
The product (the match) would then be more transparent for consumers (the fans) to decide if they wish to spend their money and attend.

Mask the truth from the fans - and then get the backlash when it goes wrong - is the alternative.
Hopefully, the club will get away with a couple of results to reverse the slump !!!!!!!

I would never decide if I wish to attend a Town game on players available, form at the time, possibly.

No, hang on, he might just be onto something here...

Also, every week, in the name of transparency, the club should release a document explaining all of their matchday tactics, particularly set pieces, and any Slade-esque PowerPoint presentations, so the product is more transparent for fans to decide if they think we are going to win or not, and also in the name of fairness to the opposition who shall be politely requested to do the same.

In fact, opposition coaches shall be invited to training at Cheapside for tea and cake too.

It's flawless, this plan, absolute genius.

Any teams that do not comply will not be welcome at Blundell Park again.  The police and the fa and other authorities will be informed.

Brilliant.   😀

Does ANY other Club do this? Of course not because it's an utterly ludicrous suggestion. You will need to do better in your truly desperate attempt to manufacture something to berate the new owners about. Perhaps you can criticise them for not providing opera glasses on every seat or a chauffeur service to the ground to combat parking problems.

I know the owners talked about transparency with the fans, though this seems to have waned a little in recent weeks, but this is ridiculous.

In the interest of transparency, could they also release a list of season ticket holders and their seat numbers so we can see who is there for each match and ultimately name and shame them for failure to turn up,and maybe a bit of public flogging in the car park?

The only thing we should release on Friday is more tickets so we can get behind the team!

Hurst should ring the opposition manager prior to each game with team names , potential injuries, players' personal problems and formation likely to be used , to see if the oppo manager objects !!

Bielsa did.

[But we’re not allowed to mention him because this is a purely Grimsby Town forum (to avoid this being moved to non-football…Mariners 1-0 Leeds ***, 8 Feb 1986, Att: 6,338 - hopefully that’s enough to keep the pedants, who like GTFC but don’t like football, at bay for a week).]

Bielsa doesn’t anymore because he got told by various parties to stop doing it.

Ps. *** does anyone know the scorer? Was anyone there?

The games against Leeds after the weekend riot game 82  were vicious affairs off the pitch, everyman and his dog turning out looking for revenge

Yes I was there. Gordon Hobson was the scorer also scored in the 1-1 draw at Elland Road. We had a very good side that year.

Couple of points.

I’m a pedant, Grimsby Town fan and don’t like the Premier League, but I don’t mind you talking about Bielsa on this board, because, well speaking as a pedant, it is a football board. As long as you don’t mention racists at football matches, then you won’t get the thread moved.

I wasn’t there but funnily enough I remember exactly where I was the next day when I finally found out the result. I can’t remember anything from this February mind.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

I wasn’t. I was hunting for over the hill ladies with young sticklebacks.  [actually with a Palace fan in an office in a converted hospital ward outside Folkestone.]

LOL - 😀
Remember Gordon Hobson scoring the only goal for us in a 1-0 win against Norwich City- Norwich had already been promoted to the top division . Brilliant Town performance.
