Whatever the individual circumstances there are a handful of clubs who can compete for the best players at this level.  We are one of them.

Most clubs do not have our advantages including having mega rich owners. We must make it pay.

Are our owners ‘mega-rich’? I don’t definitively know the answer to that, but I’ve never heard anything to suggest that they are going to bankroll our playing budget.

Their plan seems to be based more around running the club properly and sustainably, which so far appears to be yielding some decent results. But while that should mean we have some money in the pot, it’s unlikely to be comparable with the likes of Wrexham, Chesterfield and Stockport while we have the millstone of our former owner hanging around our neck.

Let's not forget us and Southend have the added benefit of full parachute payments this season, where's that extra striker we obviously need?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Yes our owners are mega rich. Fenty's wealth is like peanuts compared to these two.

We are not asking them to bankroll the club as the fans contribute enormously, but obviously one of their main tasks is to get us the players we need to make a proper first of it as the season moves on.

I can't fault them so far, but I think they now need to make sure Hurst can set his transfer targets high.

Not at Southend, I would suggest.

I’m certainly not inferring we don’t have the budget to sign another striker. Working off squad numbers alone it’s clear we weren’t able to sign any of our primary number 9 targets in the summer, and it’s obvious that we’re ahead of budget so far this season. I’m just not sure comparisons to certain other clubs are relevant.

I can’t dispute what you say as I don’t have the contrary evidence, but where are you getting this from?

I think their wealth has been discussed on here before hasn't it? They move in completely different business circles to Fenty and are by any normal measure very rich indeed.

We have hit the jackpot with these two. The fans have responded and I dont think it too much to ask for a long awaited major signing or two.

I had exactly the same question. Whilst it might be true, not really seen any evidence on here. Hope so! As I think we are more than a striker short at the moment

Whether the owners are rich or 'mega rich', surely our gate receipts are way above what was budgeted for?

Agreed, this lack of forwards has now been going on for over three months. I appreciate it is hard to get good quality forwards What I cannot believe is there are not some sort of reinforcement available that are better than what we have and I find this a bit disappointing.

I imagine needing to pay millions to the former owner hasn't really helped matters but I'm sure they already budgeted for this. It seems more a case that targets were missed for one reasons or another including not willing to throw large transfer fees and contracts at the problem like the teams with a sugar daddy.
