They could do a lot worse than appoint Holloway as his successor, given time I think he would have got us into the Prem.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Boooooo

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Fair play to Scunny for acting. Whilst we had more points, we were too late with Holloway and should have sacked him 6 weeks before he walked.

Can’t see anyone turning Scunny around with that squad, but at least they have more time to do it.

Still under a transfer embargo.

What do the embargoes mean for signing players?

Under the EFL's operational rules surrounding embargoes, clubs do have some means of strengthening their squads "to protect the integrity" of the competition.

Clubs are permitted to 'staff up' so they have 23 players of professional standing, which is termed as players to have made at least one appearance for any club in any first-team competition.

If they have less than 23 players they are allowed, within a transfer window, to sign free agents on a maximum of one-year deals or bring in players on loan for up to half a season.

However, clubs cannot pay loan fees for players and cannot pay additional wages on top of the salary the player receives at their parent club.

Not going to be easy to attract a manager of any quality, willl be scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

Intercourse it. Cox, and Swann we’re taking the Scunts in the right direction!

Mind you, with their transfer embargo and place in the league, who in their right mind would go there?

No chance, I'd expect Adkins to be looking higher up the league's and I'm expecting him to rock back up at Dull City...
I'd not be at the least bit surprised to see Jolley trying to get the Scunny gig...he's got one relegation stave off on his CV working with zero budget...

Jolley is a fair shout, I think Adkins is their best bet based on romance alone. Maybe a step too far down but he's regarded as nothing less than a hero there, who knows what a mans motives are? I would suggest if not Adkins, then the calibre their situation can and will attract will not see them stay up.

I don't discount that but he's loved by Hull, plus Charlton have become a poisoned chalice of a club over recent years, think Bowyer couldn't wait to get out of there by all accounts.

I don't think Adkins is mad enough to end his career with relegation at Scunthorpe and lose his legend status in the process.

I listened to it on my walk. The bit about refusing to put money in unless 1000 extra people turn up was frightening.

Basically blaming the fans for no investment then blackmailing them into coming back ..he sounds a bit of a fruit loop who taking no blame for the situation they are in ..all sounds a bit too familiar although Fenty never sold us up the river with the ground ..probably because the land is worth next to nowt on the grand scheme of things.

I'm assuming Swann owns the car park too. Without a football club occupying it 23 times a year, it's worth an absolute fortune.

Job description

Manager needed for unambitious club thriving to be bottom of League 2 and aiming for a place in the National League to replace Grimsby Town who will be promoted. The club is under a transfer embargo and as such the only funds available will have to come out of your pocket. The chairman will not be investing, nor will the fans that are left.

We are looking for an ambitious person who wants to add manager of a league 2 club to their CV. You will have to live on bullsh!t and hype and learn to say three magical words ' Yes Mr. Swann'. Salary will be by deferred shares in Wilko depending on how good our losses are. We will arrange for accommodation in the club car park for a caravan or tent. Planning permission will not be needed as it will not be permanent as, if your success gets us relegated, the land will be sold for housing and the club will be relocated, somewhere.

Only seriously minded egotistical people should apply and enclose a £1,000 non-refundable cash application fee.

If I had a contract I would expect the company that sacked me pay me up in full or negotiate a pay off, I certainly wouldn't sign a contract that stipulated that I would have to give up some of my pay off if I got another job.

It might already be in his contract with Charlton. Charlton paying him compo for loss of employment might be dependent on him losing his income. If he is able to replace some or all of that income he’ll be due less compo.

It might then come down to a negotiation between him and Charlton where he tries to up what he is due by enough to make the new job worth taking, and Charlton might get him paid off quicker.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Holloway as manager, Slade as assistant and Mike Newell as head nutritionist sounds like a pretty winning combination to me.

May as fundraising manager. Nick Dale in charge of customer service…

It might be in his contract, then again it might not, I don't think that it can be assumed automatically that a manager being sacked has to give up his leaving payments.

When I worked in an HR environment when sacking an individual (not in a football environment) the main payments we made were redundancy that could not be applied in this case as clearly the manager would be replaced, pay in lieu of notice either related to their length of employment or their contract and payment for loss of office plus any other the sacked person may be able to agree to.

I cannot ever remember a payment "for loss of employment"

So it'd be payment in lieu of notice to be technical.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Yeah, but this is the crazy world of football. Nuno at Tottenham got a 14 million pay off for about three months failure.

Had they stuck with him until the end of the season and finished outside the top 6, they could have sacked him for nothing, such was a clause in his contract.

I would imagine each managers contract is different these days you’d still have statutory employment rights but after that it’s football so they’ll make it up as they go along.
